Bosch 1250 DEVS

Does anyone have any experience with this tool. It is a 6.5 amp 6 inch dual mode sander/polisher. I believe it has a forced rotation mode that would be similar to a Flex 3401. I have read that some people don't like the fact that the Flex rotates the opposite way of most polishers and I don't know which way this one rotates. It's a little pricey and I have never owned a Bosch product so I don't know if it would be worth it. Are Bosch tools durable? I think this would be similar to the Makita BO 6040, but less expensive. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Bosch are very good tools, have a great reputation in the professional fields of wood and metal working.

Very durable.

Have a couple of their electric powered tools in my shop.

BIGDAVE- I've never tried that unit, but like Ron I have other Bosch powertools and I've never had any problems with them.

And BTW, I've never understood people's issue with rotational direction  :nixweiss I've sure never had any issues with how my Flex 3401 is in that regard. Forced-rotation RO polishers *do* have a specific kind of "recoil" to them, but IMO that just goes with the territory and which direction it goes...well, I just don't understand the issue, but I guess we all have our preferences.

BigDave,

I owned that tool a couple of years ago. My Makita BO6040 was getting a bit worn down so I decided to give that one a try.

It's a good machine and more effective than any of the random orbitals but not as fast as the Makita or the Festool. It's orbit is smaller and the number of rpms is lower. The Makita feels smoother to me in spite of having the larger stroke.

Thanks all.

After thinking a little more I realized that I would have to buy pads as well, as I only have 4 and 5.5 inch pads, so I will probably just stick with my trusty PC (non XP model). I like the idea of forced rotation as I prefer to throttle back in certain situations, but then lose rotation.

Glad to know that Bosch is a good name, as one never knows what the future may bring.

Thanks again for the input.

It's easy for me to spend your money ;) but I'd *really* rethink that. Once you step up to a better machine, you won't *believe* that you ever got by with the PC.

Funny you should say that, as I just got back from my local detail supplies store (Detailing.com) and staring me in the face when I walked in was their newest product line.....Griot's Garage, and front and center was the GG6 that you are so fond of. Just can't bring myself to pull the trigger right now. I am sure you are right about stepping up to a better machine, but for now it's all about the kids and their college tuition.

Oh well, it gives me something to dream about.
