Boosting Water Pressure

Hello All

I'm looking for a way to boost hosepipe water pressure. I don't want the intense pressure associated with a pressure washer, but I do want more effective pressure through the Foam gun and through the fire hose nozzle.

Accumulator, I've seen in a couple threads you mention you have boosted water pressure - how did you achieve it?

Thanks in Advance.

With a checkbook and a good plumbing contractor :chuckle:

My system is a bit involved as my house simply had crappy pressure that didn't work well with showerheads/etc., let alone foamguns so I needed to really *do* something.

I have a booster pump mounted near where the waterline comes in the house. That feeds a pressurized holding tank that supplies both the house and the shop. Whenever the pressure in the tank drops below a certain level the pump kicks in. I also have shut-offs/bypasses for when the pump goes bad (first one lasted ~5 years).

It required a fair bit of work. I forget what it cost (it was just another line on a pages-long invoice) but it wasn't cheap, figure over $2K easy. Just replacing the pump was ~$700 (mostly the cost of the pump).

Thanks for the info... I managed to buy a booster pump today. Has an integral pressure vessel and pressurizes to 60PSI, I hope it'll be sufficient for a foamgun.

Water pressure without it at the moment is about 20 PSI, so anything will be an improvement

It simply connects to the mains and since it has its own pressure vessel, does away with the expensive plumbing aspects.

Challenge now is to find a 1" hose tail :-)

Taubs- That's good news, glad to hear you found a simple and effective solution!

Guess it's off to Lowe's for the hook-up, or maybe a plumbing supply place if your locale still has such specialized shops.
