Bold N Bright question

I just picked up some Bold N Bright to try out. I read how it cleans as well as shines/protects. I read the directions on the bottle but I'm still a little confused on how I should use this product.

I want to use this on my 265/75/16 truck tires. I prefer a shinier look against the white letters. To me that makes it pop. Should I use a wheel cleaner to prep the tire then spray on BnB for an even better clean? And then wipe down the tire with a terry cloth rag to get any excess grime that BnB took care of? If I do that will it take off some of the shine taking it back to a semi-gloss type of finish? And if so should I put a 2nd coat of BnB on to bring it back to shiney? See what I mean... I feel like I'm inventing steps here when I just want to use the product the best way. I could use some advice. :)

Before the first application, I would scrub the tires and use an APC on them to ensure you are starting with a clean surface. Apply the first coat and asses the look. If you like a shiny look vs. a matte (as you mentioned) then you will probably want to apply a second coat. After that for maintenance, you can just let the cleaners in BnB handle the cleaning duties. I apply it with a foam tire applicator.

Thanks for the help :thanks

How is BnB holding up for you? Does it hold up for a couple weeks depending on the weather?

BNB is water based so it's durability isn't the greatest compared to solvent based dressings but I find for what it is durability is good. I have got a solid week and a half out of it when using an APC before and sponge method to apply and I also average about 4-500 miles a week. Just remember the longer it sits on the tires before you drive the longer it will last.

Thanks for the advice about using a sponge to apply. That worked out really well. I tried out some Pinnacle tire and wheel cleaner to prep the tires. It seemed to work well. My tires are just so grimey all the time. I don't understand how they get that way.

When I applied the BnB my sponge was turning black from the additional grime that was lifted off. But it did do a very nice job. I'm pretty pleased with how it looks now.

I probably only put on 200 miles per week. Thats going back and forth to work. With gas prices up I don't go out joy ridin as much as I used to.

So what your sayin is after I apply BnB I should try to let my truck sit for as long as possible? Would I get a lot of sling if I drove it right away?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I drive my vehicles immediately with no sling problem.
I do prefer the matte look so I wipe the BnB after application.

the Glossier you want them, the longer it should sit without wiping ..a second coat would also accomplish a higher gloss ;)

For me if the tire is noticably dirty I take an APC to it first...then as Steve said, depending on the look you want will determine if you buff it down for a more matte finish or up to two coats for a more glossy finish.

JRs_Z71, this probably won't give you the shiny look you prefer (as already noted, sponge application/second application should accomplish that) but it might give you another look. I use this method on occasion (did just last night) instead of dressing the tires at the completion of the wash/detail process.

1. Clean each tire with diluted APC
2. Go back over each tire spraying with BnB and scrubbing with tire brush

Proceed to regular wash routine. Do not wipe/buff the tires. This gives the tires a slightly different look than matte, but not glossy.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments. Definitely gives me something else to consider.

It turned out that I put 1 coat of BnB on. It wasn't a heavy coat. I let the tires set for a bit. I ended up with slightly more than semi-gloss type finish. I liked it so I didn't try a 2nd coat. I'll try 2 coats next time and see how I like the difference.

Is BnB similar to other products in that its better to apply 2 or 3 thinner coats vs. 1 or 2 heavy coats? Or doesn't it matter with tire dressings?

I apply my BnB with a paint brush and after I have applied it I go around the tire several times to make sure I got everything...I let it sit and then wipe it down. I have not had a problem with BnB but with some of the tire gels if you put on to much it tends to sling unless you really wipe it down...

Just my 2 cents.

I rarely find the need to make multiple applications, and I don't pay attention to how thick or thin my applications are. Sometimes I apply the BnB to a tire swipe and apply, and sometimes I spray directly onto the tire. Sometimes I use it full strength, sometimes diluted with distilled water. It works out well for me no matter how I use it. Nice, huh? :)

I would clean the wheel with an APC, .

I usually mist BnB on and leave it for shine.. I will wipe the overspray off the rim of course..
