Bodybuilding 4 weeks out...

ScottWax- Yeah, I hear you on the fat medical providers. Gotta say though, that at the place I went to yesterday all three of the women I interacted with were in pretty good or better shape.

Keep us posted, Dean!

What class are you looking at?

I am going in at heavyweight (over 190 lbs.) I am currently 221.5 lbs and figure I'll be @ 215 lbs after cutting water. After all is said and done I dropped about 40 lbs., but I am very happy with the condition I am bringing this time around. I am much harder at 2 weeks out than I was the day of the show last year. Had to make many adjustments to my diet to make up for my 39 year old metabolism.

I'd think it'd be a little tricky to get this final ~week just right You know, the old "don't peak too soon/late" thing

What do you plan for your post-contest maintenance condition?

ive been working out for the past 10 years (football, track, basketball) but i still need to refine my diet...

gluck on the show!

I guess "peaking" is hard too predict, but my goal for this show was to be as hard as I was 10 years ago, when I was having a great run and placed top 3 in every show I entered (3 firsts in 6 shows). I am back to the condition I once had, and hope its enough to get me back to winning !!!

As far as keeping in shape after the show, I have another physical challenge I am planning to undertake. My brother (Dave) and I both Wrestled in H.S. and college, and we are planning on entering a open freestyle tournament later this summer. We will both most likely wrestle in the 220 lbs. class. Its been over 15 years since I wrestled in a tournament, and I plan on at the very least being in great condition. I figure that if I am in great shape I may very well still get my head handed to me, but at least I won't gas after 2 minutes.

Clean Dean- Well, as we get older the same hardness gets even more impressive anyhow, huh? That wrestling tournament sounds like a great idea! Good motivation there...

This was taken at 12 days out. I put in B&W, because I am soooo pale, and as white as a ghost. Thank God for spray tanning and Pro Tan. I am 9 days out now, and will post pics from the show.

looking swole! I'm hoping to compete in a natural amateur competition next year, but I need to get my diet down a lot better. Good luck!

Good luck man, I like bodybuilding but don't do it myself - more into powerlifting. I hope to do my first meet sometime in the next 12 months. My raw numbers are a 380 squat, 295 bench, and 425 dead @ ~190-195lbs. I just started training equipped a little, and with a single ply suit I've hit a 425 squat and 450 deadlift - both felt like I had more in the tank. I would say in a single-ply a 450+ and 475-500lb deadlift is not far off for me. I haven't started training shirted yet. I turn 23 in a week or so - numbers could be better but I suppose are not bad at my bodyweight. Whatev

I have the uptmost respect for powerlifters. I competed in one powerlifting competition about 12 years ago, and did well in the deadlift and squat, but I have a bad right shoulder as a result of a college wrestling injury that limits my ability to ever bench too heavy. You have some great number !!!

I have posted some pics of my diet results at:
