When I took my car there I didn't switch over to my crappy wheels and my bridgestone S-03's now have harsh carwash soap practically bonded to it. The soap didn't get rinsed off and it was on the car for about 4-5 days. I tried to get it off using a soft brush and P21S total auto wash (the strong citrus stuff). The only part of it that remains is the lines where the edges were but it's really annoying and I don't know what to do next.
Can somebody please help?
PS: since this is my first post let me mention that it's great to see that there are other people who take as much care with their cars as I do. :bow
For a one-time use, diluted Simple Green should do the trick. I usually use a stiff nylon brush to scrub the tires which also might help get the crud off.
Why diluted simple green isnt that strong anyways I always use it to clean my rims and tires. Does a nice job watching all the crud roll of the tires in a brown soapy fasion.
I went out today to get a stiff brush and some simple green and after about 15 minutes I had all of the soap off. It was suprising how much brake dust accumulated on my tires; no matter how much scrubbing I did when I wiped it down with a terry towel it still had a little brown in it. :nixweiss
My main concern now is a condition that came on my tires when I bought them that I thought was taken out. I had my tires shipped from tire rack and where it didn't have tape around it there were "wear marks".... Here's a pic:
At this point I've tried damn near everything in addition to meguiars "grape kool-aid" gel and it didn't even hide it. What is my next step? Are those marks permanent since my tires are a year old.
Try scrubbing with a degreaser then use a hard brisstle brush or fine steel wool to see if it comes off if not then its worn down looks like curb rash.
I guess it matters what size you are looking at with the S03's. The grip and response etc. is worth the price if you're looking towards getting top notch tires. My size is 205/50/15 and I paid about 160 for each. The comfort is there and so is the wet traction even though my rears are worn down. Every part about it is incredibly better than the Pirelli Z7000's and every other car I've had experience with. The treadwear is lacking to maybe a few of it's competitors but I can say they wear very well and they are all around good till the last drop.
I should have never put these damn tires on my car, I should have shipped them right back but I thought I'd be able to take it out. The mark on the rim is some of the shampoo that dried never got taken off. I'm thinking that it was just messed with a little too much in shipping. If it's worn down is there anything I can do? I'd just put new tires on my list but the fronts still have tread and there are so many other things to do
I tried steel wool #00 and full strength degreaser. It's still there so that's as far as I can go with cleaning right? Is there any way how to repair the tire? Would a permanent dye like forever black hurt rubber?
These are the absolute best street tire I've ever used. If you want to pay the premium then it's worth it. The only drawback is the tread life(I wont know for awhile as I've only got about 8k on them, but they look good-also AWD so I don't burn them up all the time)
