body shop pricing

I usually dont go this route,but i have a few nicer body shops interested in me doing some work for them. Not a ton, but sometimes they get backed up or whatever the case might be. How do i figure out the prices, what is a fair cut off my prices in a percentage? Since they will bring steady work in and maybe a little bulk, what should they save?
 
I mark down my prices depending on the pre-estimated amount of business they may give me. The maximum amount I mark down is 20% off. BE CAREFUL....alot of business coming from body shops will be busted up vehicles (unbelievable grime and dirt on the paint, broken glass & tons of dirt in the interior, foul smells, super dirty windows, and more), so make sure you let them know before hand that there will be an upcharge in fee for vehicles in very bad condition. But, from my experience body shop business is an excellent addition to a detailing company given that they typically do keep business coming to you. This is especially a very good thing during the current season up here in the north!

What AJ said. In addition, a quality body shop can give your name out as the go to guy when the vehicle is ready to be waxed. It can be a good relationship both ways if the body shop does excellent work.



I occassionally do details for a body shop in Dallas. Not too often but he tends to call me on rainy days when he has something since he knows I can usually come out then. I've referred numerous customers to him (he is absolutely top notch!) and he has done the same for me....in fact, I've done 4 full details over the past few weeks for one of the customers he referred to me.
 
I have had good luck with an independent Lexus repair shop here in the area. The guy is in my networking group and he sends me about 2 cars a week. Generally they are in fair condition. I discount him $10 bucks and he charges the customer what he wants, so I stay out of that part.

Independent mechanics area great resource b/c the customers usually trust their reccomendations.
