Bobby Knight's 880

I got to go to the record setting game this past Monday. It wasn't the Red Raiders best showing, but we won none-the-less. The ceremony afterward was very nice, and it was pretty cool to be a part of this piece of history.

Here are some pictures I took:

I am an IU grad, watched the 76 team win the title, attended IU when Isiah led them to the title and cheered when Smart hit the shot to beat Syracuse.

My wife, another IU grad, is still PO'ed he got the record in Texas, and not here in Indiana.

I've had the honor of being shoved by Knight. I know that sounds special, but I'm probably one of thousands who can claim that. :)

I was manager for Sam Alford when Steve Alford was playing for Knight and they did a red/ white game at our high school (our hs gym seats 11,000). I was in charge of making sure Knight had everything he needed & all. I was coming out of the locker room as he was coming in at halftime & he wasn't happy about the performace, told me "Get the f*** out of my way!" and shoved me aside. I think I was 16 or so at the time. I guess you just expect stuff like that when you grow up in Indiana and know all the dirt.

The greatest coaching accomplishment in college basketball belongs to John Wooden and his 10 NCAA championships. The 880 wins is very, very respectable but does not prove nearly the same level of greatness as John Wooden accomplished.

BTW - Long time Indiana resident and Purdue Basketball fan here, so obviously I have no bias either for or against BK :chuckle:

Nice pics Zane!

IU Graduate here - 1996.

Loved watching him and the team from 92 - 96. Going to the games was a blast.

The man knows basketball although he is an a$$.

And that would be why he is no longer at IU. Everyone I know, including BIG Knight backers, just got tired of the crap.

By the way, I agree John Wooden has the most amazing record in the sport. And to top it off, he is a gentleman.

Bobby Knight is a scumbag. I'm sick of hearing about this milestone from someone who deserves to be out of work. Everyon on this planet knows damn well if it was their kid being choked or slapped or berated, they'd be trying to sue. I actually heard people on sports radio the other night defending his tactics. What a load of absolute ********.
