GOT PREP?
This BMW was recently purchased used by one of my good customers—he wanted it as perfect as possible. He just drops cars off and asks me to call him when they are ready—can’t beat that!



He requests that we use Meguiars products on his vehicles, so that’s what we do.



It took about 27 man hours to complete the washing, cleaning, and paint prep stage of this detail. We cleaned underneath the car, all of the suspension components, etc.





The process for the paint was:



Wash/clay

Sand about 75 rids with Meguiars unigrit 3000

Meguiars 105/twisted wool/1750 RPM’s—we used spot pads for tighter areas

Meguiars #105/green CCS pad/1500 RPM’s

PO106FF/PC/white LC LP pad

Meguiars #7/PC/blue LC pad

Meguiars #26 by hand

Meguiars #16 by hand

24 hours—Meguiars #16 spit-shinned with 135

24 hours135 wipedown



Interior was steamed, shampooed, vacuumed, extracted, etc

I love the 6 series .....and you brought it back to life......the rims look great too!!!

Yikes, that took some very aggressive work :eek: I'm guessing it was the older hard BMW clear as opposed to the newer stupid-soft stuff.



Spitshining the #16 works very well, huh? Were you doing it by hand or by machine?

You guessed, the paint was *rock* hard! Of course the repsrayed 1/4panel was soft. It was really tough getting it to level--we had to pull out the big guns. :D



I was doing it by hand and it worked really well. I also like to do it with OCW, but the 135 was excellent as well.

You really gotta try it by machine some time. Don't overwork it (lest you get the fabled #16 removal headache) but seriously, it's worth trying; I predict more spherical beading than you've ever seen from #16 (consider that statement for a moment ;) ).



I was pretty surprised when I first tried it...that's applying *and* removing by Cyclo, dunno for sure if the machine-removal contributes much or not.



If it *doesn't* wow you, I'd like to know about it as that'd mean it's something weirdly specific to my situation and I oughta quit suggesting it (hey, it's not like *all* my advice is gonna work out for everybody ;) ).



I gotta try it with the 476S some time...imagine if it improved the beading characteristics of *that* wax :eek:

I will definitely give it a go--you have *never* steered me wrong!



I just washed a G35 that was sealed last week with 476s, the beading was unbelievable!
