BMW Pillars

I looked at a 7 series BMW today that the buy had detailed (at the dealer) and the pillars that separate the front & back side windows looked like someone had applied a treatment that created a pattern of what looked like hundreds of small water spots. I am not sure what those pillars are made of, possibly anodized metal. Anyway does anyone have experience with this and a recommended application??

I don't have a clue as to what could help the problem.

thanks

Sounds like splatter of some detailing chemical the dealer used got on the pillars. Those are anodized metal. I'm working on a 745 Li today and will take a closer look and post back. If it's just water splatter, some mild cleaner should take it off, but I suspect if the detailer was "rushing" on a detail, that is compound splatter.

Don't know the exact year but it was several years old, not the newer 7 series body style, the pillars looked to be black however the finish was somewhat dull (exterior)

vosstire: I'll take some pics today of the 03' 745 that I'm doing. I suspect the pillars are similar in finish (dull anodizing). The former owner of the car I'm doing had wax stuck between the metal finish and the rubber door molding.

My 2001 330i has what it looks like a thin, single-stage coat of semi-flat black paint, similar to the crap used on windshield wiper arms. I just give it AIO treatment and it looks OK. Not great, but OK.

try malco rejuvinator on a foam pad then even out with a microfiber (black inserts, not annodized trim). Comes back white on some cars, but not onBMW's in my experience. Also works well on the black lower trim and rear bumper bottoms on the older 740I's and IL's
