BMW Dealer Detail

My friend just purchased a new 325i and told me the dealer is going to detail his car next week and it will take 6 hours. When he bought his last car 3 years ago, I tried to educate him about using clay, Klasse AIO and SG, microfiber towels, QD's etc. Everytime he sees my car, he is amazed how it "shines"

I asked what they are going to do in 6 hours and he said, wash it and put two coats of sealant that will last 6 months then all he needs to do is wash it. When he mentioned that he has a friend that uses Klasse, they told him, that stuff is a waste of money. I can't wait to see his car next week. :rofl

They told him your sealant was a waste of money?! :rofl

Six hours to do a brand new car that they just sold him?! :rofl

You're killing me!

why dont you tell him not to get it done and spend it on a good detail w/ a recomended local detailer?

I offered to help him wash, clay, polish and apply Klasse but he thinks the dealer will do a better job. :wall

Let him learn the hard way, I guess.

What color is his car? If it's dark, try to always meet him when theres direct sunlight or swirl-illuminating lights above. Park your car next to his, and let him see what the dealer does.

He likes your car's shine, but he doesn't trust you?

I guess my defenition of "friend" is different.

As others have said, let him learn from his own mistake.

Smart people learn from other people's mistakes anyways. :D

but still i mean why let a perfect paint job go to waste....i just couldnt watch it happen!

Not much can be done if the person simply doesn't care. I just found out that my aunt got a new '05 Buick LaCrosse last week, and has no plans to get it detailed or anything. Yet she's seen how much difference it makes on my vehicles, and other family members' vehicles I take care of. I'm baffled.

The color is Sparkling Graphite, mine is Alpine White. Good idea

I detailed my neighbours brand new Sparkling Graphite 330i.

I also work at a local BMW dealership and I honestly can't say I'm impressed with the detailers work there.

I wonder what products dealerships use? 3M most likely? While some products yield better results than others, I'm sure technique and skill are what matter more in this situation. I bet the dealership "sealant" wears off 2 months from now, you should use klasse on yours and show him how much longer it beads!
