bimmer looks fabulous.

Why is it that people who OWN such great cars don't even have rudimentary knowledge of how to wash & maintain a car's surface?

Sounds like tons of baked-on brake dust, think I read somewhere that BMW's OEM pads shed lots of brake dust. Remedied this situation on my Accord by switching to ceramic pads and brake dust is somewhere between negligible & nill while maintaining excellent braking performance.

I suggest a wheel cleaner and try not to get it on the face of the wheel. Rinse frequently if you do. Use a green scotchbrite pad or even some 000 or 00 steel wool on that baked on brake dust.

If you referring to the area between the spokes, avoid previous suggestions about scotchbrite pad & steel wool but you're still going to need some kind of chemical cleaner.

Poorboy's is releasing Spray & Rinse Wheel Cleaner soon, definitely worth a try based on reviews of test samples.

I'm thinking that this car os way to new to have any major baked in brake dust. You need an acid base cleaner and a good brush. I would buy a cheap toliet brush for this. Keep some soapy water there and spray the cleaner inside the rims and then use the brush. Those rims will not from my experence not stain but try a smalll area to start.

hey guys , being the owner of 2 bimmers , let me tell you the brake dust can cake on within a week . While the metallic pads provide excellent stopping power they show dust in one day. I have to wipe the rims everyday. I apply polymer wax and/or sealant to the rims for easier cleaner . the rims are painted and then clearcoated just like the car so I wouldn't use an acid based cleaner or harsh brushes .I use a citrus based cleaner that's especially for painted wheels and a soft wheel brush .

Most bimmer owners have either changed their pads or excepted their fate with this one. Don't sweat it civicboy , you did a great job . Tell the owner to really get the wheels clean you'll need to take them off. I'm sure he'll decline ..LOL ..Again good job..nice pics.
