BMW 330i with Performance Package

A friend of mine at the BMW dealership just received this BMW as his personal vehicle. I told him to not let the dealership touch it, that I would do the initial detail for him.

So I picked up the car this morning. Very nice! Not as hard edged as the M3, but a spirited car that is comfortable as an everyday driver.

I began with a QEW wash, clayed, AIO'd using a yellow Meguiar's polishing pad and my PC, and finally applied Souveran paste wax by hand. The rim's I AIO's, and the tires I dressed with Poorboy's B&B.

He was pleased. Looked much better than the other new cars at the dealership.

tdekany,

It took me longer than I thought it would. There were some misc. scratches that I removed using Poorboy's 2.5. I'm very used to this paint as I have a Jet Black M3, but for some reason it took me longer to do this car. I probably spent a good 4 hours on the job, and this is not a large car.

My next car will be silver!

Ah, 330i w/ Performance Package. Great little car!

How hard/soft is BMW's paint? I'm working on my dad's black Ford F-150 and the paint is ridiculously soft; it is really giving me a bad attitude about black vehicles, though I do love the color on certain cars.

Oh man, you friend got the last of the late, great E46 series! The Bangled 3-series is arriving in showrooms now, and it isn't pretty.

I bought a red 2001 330i, 5 speed, performance package just a week ago. I love it. Pictures will be up as soon as I'm done with my multi-day detailing.

Very nice cars, I detail a blue one every once in a while. Great lines but those wheels can be a PITA to clean.

AIO + Souveran = teh win! :bow

TW85: Yes, the paint is soft. I have a black BMW and it is my last black car.

Lowe: It is the temporary license plate held on by the trunk.

Scott: You are right those rims are difficult, and I am used to the M3 18" rims.

"AIO + Souveran = the win"

Yes, I will have pictures later on my brother's 325i soon with AIO+Souveran.

I find the paint quality on BMW's to be very, very high. I have detailed several used one's now with mucho swirls and after SSR2.5, AIO, and Souveran the cars looks brand new.

I think the quality equates to how well they clean up.

great detail and beautiful car! Had a chance to test drive both the M3 and 330i performance packaged BMW and the latter was my favorite, for the fact that it can be a daily driver and a weekend warrior at the same time.

BTW, I actually think the new 3 looks great. Bangle, imo, didn't vandalize that model

N I C E :) great detail Carl, and a nice car too.

Has it got the light grey interior leather? Was going to have one of those 'trunk' spoilers fitted to mine, but decided against in the end, they do look kinda cool though, perhaps will think again :)
