Blitz Wax...what happened?

Blitz is the one paste I haven't tried yet, mostly because of all the reports of trim staining. Am I being overly paranoid? :nixweiss

The first time I tried Blitz it was on a Crown Victoria Police car that I bought and reconditioned for a daily driver. The results where SUPER but I did get some staining on the black plastic (mirror trim and XM antenna on the roof). I used a medium bristle brush and some Maxi-Clean (an APC from Car Care Products in MA) and the staining came right off and never came back.

I was a bit suprised that it stained but since then I have been more careful about the trim and I haven't had any issue with it staining.

It is a nice wax. I also have tried their glaze, QD and wash with WAX. I like all the products. Personally I like the look of this wax better than the P21S. I think it lasts longer too.

Here are a few shots of my freshly waxed Crown Vic after lots of work with both a rotary and orbital buffer. The wax was applied by hand. If you do try this wax I suggest doing two panels and then going back to buff it off. The first time I used this wax (on the Vic) I did the entire car and when I went back to buff the wax was like cement. I had a lot of work to do and by the time I finished my arms were sore :)

I recommend you give it a try, Scott. It does in fact stain black trim, but if you have the time to be very careful in that regard, I think you'll be pleased. It's really good stuff.:xyxthumbs

Blitz was never hyped back in the day, nor was it a bandwagon product. It was what it was advertised as, an inexpensive wax with nice shine and better than average durability. ...

What's wrong with being a bandwagon product? It seems to happen when several members post rave reviews.

BTW Bill, are you having a bad day? That post looked like you were taking things way too personally.

No, I wasn't taking things personally. Mikey and Spilchy are the ones who have taken my recent posts (reminiscing about the old days) WAY too personally. They both love to comment whenever they can. I simply told them not to pick a fight with me for no reason. Leave things alone. I've said what I wanted to say. I'm trying hard to be a solid and positive contributor to the board. Don't provoke me. Pretty simple. :)

Yowzers Bill! I was just joking, honestly ;) Didn't mean to ruffle your panties :p

You want a flame war? Go to DetailCity and tell them Poorboys are bandwagon products!! :D

Especially Mike, you've been nothing but a negative contributor to the board with your subtle jabs. Get a life.

I don't care what they say...I still love ya Bill. :ca :D :xyxthumbs

Haha...I don't know ya Bill...but you sound like you one of the judges on daytime fox. Probably some truth but, not sugar coated :D .

Ok BillNorth,

I've never tried Blitz wax, but I like your style, BillNorth. Go, go , go Bill! All thumbs up for ya. :wavey :xyxthumbs :bounce

I use to use Blitz. In fact, I still have a can in my garage. The biggest drawbacks were dust attraction and difficulty in removal. Still a good product though.

I frequently alternate between #16 and Blitz, the heavy duty carnaubas. In terms of the dusting issue, I would say it is expected from almost any carnauba. I'm willing to put up with some dust in order to achieve depth and gloss not found in most sealants.

If I could get ot locally like other paste waxes, sure...but, I really have no need for a past like #16...I have a lot of #16 left. And it doesn't stain trim :)

Corey-I have two full tins of #16 right now. I sent the one I had been using to my kids. About 20 cars worth of use and still more than half full. They've been bugging me for it since they went back to their Mom's. They seemed to like using that and EX w/carnauba the most while helping me this summer.

I may still try Blitz one of these days though.

I used Blitz wax but stopped because of 3 reasons Dust attraction was very bad

stained trim

broke up in the tin(drove me crazy)

the durability was amazing

Blitz on top of Omega glaze is a unreal look.

If they ever changed the formula I would try it again
