Blitz Wax...what happened?

Is it me, or has it seemed that Blitz Wax has lost its popularity among many dedicated detailers? I notice that most online retailers do not carry it, and it seems as though most regulars on Autopia are quick to recommend other waxes such as P21S or Pinnacle. What has happened to this once long-time favorite?

I would say its difficulty to remove factor, plus possible trim stainage, has caused it to take backseat to other products.

Blitz is a good wax that lasts a good while. I still have a can around I mess with every now and then.

It's definitely a premium quality product. I used to use it frequently, I just moved on to try other products.

Ask Bill North. That was the "bandwagon" wax back when he liked Autopia.

Anyway, I find that it stains trim on application and the runoff after a rain fall will stain the trim as well.

I use it now and again on cars that have no black trim.

Good to hear that it is still around. I have a can myself but unfortunately I have given it the backseat also because of the dust collection it creates on my black car. I find that the Klasse twins are a better match for me because of the dust reduction and the fact that my car sits outside 24/7.

I liked Blitz back then but the trim staining is still showing up in places on my truck 2 years later. I also had a bad experience with the can rusting and the rust getting on the applicator! Bad news when that happens. There are other products that work as well without the trim staining

I still use and like Blitz. I apply unbuffed plastic cleaners before apply any wax so trim staining is not issue to me.

It may not be sexy anymore but I still think it is a good product.

and I've yet to find another carnauba with this kind of longevity. I've never had staining problems but keep all wax products away from black trim. ;)

Two factors are the reason I stopped using Blitz wax Staining trim and it attracts dust big time I really liked the product for it's durability

I do, too. If your car has a large amount of hard-to-avoid black trim, you may want to use something else. If not, Blitz is a great wax with excellent longevity.

I suppose you could always tape up the trim but yeah, I do recall the dust issue , that was a notable drawback. Maybe they just need a revised, anti static formula.

I've never noticed the dust attraction that many others have noted, but it is a little harder to remove than other waxes.

It does give a great shine and long durability for the cheap price.

I agree that perhaps a refomulation is due...

Blitz has given me the best look so far on my black car. I might use it as a topper for my Klasse finish as I am starting to go into "carnauba withdrawal" once again. I need more depth!!! :D

Amen Spilchy!! :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

I actually LIKE Blitz wax!! I've used it about a half dozen times now...each time it was applied over the One Grand Omega Glaze. It reminds me a lot of Meg's #16 in its application, removal and look. As long as you use THIN coats during the application and remove before it hazes over into cement you are greeted with a deep, wet and very clear looking shine.

One of our sponsors carries the full line of One Grand products and their customer service is flat out TOP NOTCH. www.winnerscircledetailingproducts.com

Personally, I'd give them both a try (the sponsor and the wax)!!

Mike

I just used Blitz wax as a topper over the Klasse twins on my wifes Black (anthracite) Jaguar S-Type. It looks SUPER. Much better than just Klasse alone. I'm hoping to use the Blitz as the sacrifical top coat (rewax once a month) with the Klasse providing long term protection underneat (6 months or so).

So far so good.

Blitz was never hyped back in the day, nor was it a bandwagon product. It was what it was advertised as, an inexpensive wax with nice shine and better than average durability. Unlike today. So many products that make cars look like 'rolling mirriors', and that last for months and months, lol.

You guys have no clue whatsoever. I've been quiet about this the last little while. I'm trying hard to be a good boy, in case you haven't noticed. Why don't both of you shut up and stop trying to pick a fight with me. Especially Mike, you've been nothing but a negative contributor to the board with your subtle jabs. Get a life.

Here's to both of you. :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs (You know what you can do with both thumbs)

Blitz is the one paste I haven't tried yet, mostly because of all the reports of trim staining. Am I being overly paranoid? :nixweiss

I've never had staining problems. I used it on a 1995 740il a few years ago. That has black trim. Didn't see any staining.

The gloss and depth will knock you on your butt.

I can cut a chunk out and mail it to you if you'd like to try.
