A friend of mine got some beach spilt on his tan carpet in his 00 Honda Accord. Its about the size of a half dollar.

Any ideas or does he have to get it dyed??? :nixweiss

Thanks

A friend of mine had a drop of bleach drip on his black carpet in his truck. Since the carpet was black he colored the Dime sized spot with a Sharpie marker. It worked good on black, but I am not shre what to do about tan...

Here's a color recipe chart from Rit Dye and here's the Color Chart for Rit's standard colors. Depending on how much trouble you wanted to go through you could experiment with the dye colors on a white towel until you developed a color that matched pretty close. If you couldn't get the color matched exactly, I think it would be better to end up with a color that is lighter than the rest instead of darker. I think if the color was darker the spot would be more noticable. Plus if you started with a lighter shade you could work up to the matching shade by reapplying the dye to the spot. If you got the color too dark you couldn't go backwards.

Since this kind of like surgery you'll want to cover up the rest of the mat with towels or something. This will guard against drips or spills while you're working on the spot. You could use a tooth brush to work the dye into the spot.

Call around to some detail shops and see if any offer "real" carpet recoloring - not the aerosol paint dye. I can dye pretty much any colour except the lighter greens as I have a professional dye kit but I am no where near you.

Shine Shop, I am thinking about purchasing a carpet dye kit. Are there a difference between an aerosol paint dye and the professional dye kit?

Where did you get your kit?

How much did it cost?

How hard is it to use?
