Is this product as good as some folks claim it is? I know it gets a lot of talk on another forum.

I never tried the product but would be interested to hear what everyone thinks of it. Seems a little over hyped IMO.

I dont know, I probaby wont even try it. I am happy with what I have.

I just have not seen much attention on Blackfire until recently.

It's at the top of my list of sealants I use. I just used it again a few days ago.

At first I was on the fence about buying BFWD, because I already had the Zaino line, Meg-#21, NXT 2.0, FK1000, Duragloss, Collinite, & Wolfgang line.

I'm glad I bought it. Now the other products mentioned above don't get used much.

BFWD imo gives more of a carnauba type look than a sealant look. It's also very easy to put on and take off. Not too mention it's the slickest product I've used.

That pretty much sums it up. It's been a very popular item for over a year now.

I just bought BFWD to try on metallic silver. After all the attention, I expected big things. To be honest, it made my car look no better than the others. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad product. I have a feeling it's because it's hard to make silver pop, generally speaking.

Love the look BFWD gives. The stuff is also very slick. Unfortunately, for me anyways, the durability isn't all that great. I certainly didn't get 6 months out of it as the label suggests. Perhaps my prep leaves something to be desired, and/or the crummy climate in which I live is to blame...

Generally, what type of looks do sealants tend to give? I know nubas = warm/deep wet glows....but are the visual characteristics of sealants?

Kind of a plastic look, or glassy shine. You would just have to see two vehicles, one with a nuba and sealant side by side. Of course some may not be able to tell a difference in looks..

I still believe that nuba's look the best on a vehicle, but sealants are doing a better job these days in looks.. Especially since I first tried the Zaino line back in 98-99.

Is it worth the hype? Well, if you value carnauba like looks and slickness that compares to FMJ, only it lasts months. However it is pricey compared to other really good sealants.

Also, who only applies protection twice a year? You know all you crazy car nuts are doing waxes and sealants multiple times throughout the year. For the guy who said it looked normal on silver, did you do some polishing first? With the ease of application and removal and the slickness it provides, I wouldn't care if I only got 2 months of protection as I enjoy putting it on.

Edit - Did a 2010 VW I first did back in September 2009, just did it again this weekend and many areas still had Blackfire protecting the paint. It need to be reapplied but was still present.

Blackfire is one of my favorite sealants. Easy to apply, easy to remove and last a respectful amount of time. I've seen people complain of streaking, but not in any of my experiences.
