Blackfire Wet Diamond

Order placed!

Man I have a lot of sealants. :wow:

By the way, the thing that pushed me over the top to order BWD was the fact that PAC is having a 20% off sale:

BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond
All Finish Paint Protection

Rob, your like my wife, if it's on sale she has to have it. I keep telling her that if the regular price was 20 bucks and it's on sale for 10 bucks, sure she saved 10 bucks, but she still spent 10 bucks. If she didn't buy it, she saved 10 bucks. Can't get that thru her head.

FWIW, BF also plays well with Werkstat.

Hey, thanks for that info, you must remember that I use AJT on my silver Lotus. :2thumbs:

LOL! I try NOT to be like that, because my wife IS like that!

Me, I just have a weakness for trying new sealants for some strange reason.

I have tried WD on black metallic, and really like it. And now that I think about it, it doesn't attract dust to the degree that the previous LSP I tried (Natty's Blue) does. I guess sealants aren't as much of a dust magnet.

I have used, and will still use, Opti-Seal. Between my kids, my girlfriend, and her kids, it is great to have an LSP that looks very good, and takes so little time to use. I like to be nice to my "family," but I don't want to work on those cars forever.

Most people could not really see any difference between two products such as OS and WD. If I were a pro detailer, it would be OS without a doubt, for the supreme ease of use. For my own pampered ride, I do like Wet Diamond.

However, I understand that there will always be a next "best thing." Isn't there always?

Applied Blackfire Wet Diamond to my black car last wwekend & it's simply impressive. Goes on like butter & come off as easily & leaves the paint looking wet & slippery to the touch.....LOVE it!

Any idea who is the maker of blackfire wet diamond?

Blackfire is Classic Motoring Accessories's (properautocare.com) baby.

For some reason, BF has never really taken off in terms of popularity here amongst Autopians. I know it has a decent following within certain car specific circles and it's popped up from time to time here, but never any real traction. I can't say that I'm well versed with their product line, but I do like their All Finish Paint Protection. I'm happy to see that it's getting its fair due now. In my experience, I do find it more appealing on dark paint than lighter shades, blacks and blues especially.

I used my newly received BWD on my friends red car today.

All I will say is this: this stuff seems an AWFUL LOT like UPP. I mean a LOT of similarities. The way it feels when you wipe it off, the slickness, even the bottle is identical. The sealant itself looks different, but I would not be surprised at all to find out that this is nothing more than UPP with Polycharger added.

Conspiracy theory anyone? ;)

Could very well be the same stuff, minus a teaspoon of this and a tablespoon of that. It's also very similar to Wolfgangs Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

Yeah, just another example of how silly I am for continuing to try so many different sealants.

I really do need to focus my attention elsewhere, such as polishes.

Have you tried BFWD side by side w UPP? Any differences noted?

I have UPP but i do not have any BFWD on hand to do the comparison and see for myself

These 3 sealants came out roughly around the same time if I remember correctly, but UPP was under the old Platinum brand, not Four Star. I wouldn't doubt that there are some similarities in their formulas, the boutique detailing community wasn't so big then.

But, let's not get all Julia Roberts with it all.

I've used all 3 sealants (pre-Polycharger), and prefer BF. It doesn't lose its slickness like UPP or Wolfgang after the first wash.

From your experience, how many washes before the slickness feel is gone?

Variables, like how much rain the car has seen, how humid it is, and so on, all weigh in on your question.

^ good points.

I would notice a significant drop off in slickness after 1 wash with UPP and Wolfgang (almost completely with Wolfgang), less so with BF. I don't recall exactly when it would be completely gone for UPP or BF, but I remember there was a noticeable difference. Your washing technique and soap choice will also affect the longevity of the sealant, so keep that in mind.

Is your guys' BFWD light baby blue colored? (Similar in color to the background of the Autopia site).

Yup...smurf blue.

Well, if BWD's slickness lasts a lot better than UPP (and I agree that the slickness of UPP disappears VERY fast) then it could very well be worth the price for that alone.
