Blackfire wet diamond

Curious as to whether this product is made by the same chemist as FMJ. Will these products all have different looks? For example, some people claim that Wolfgang has a more carnauba like look than UPP, which is more bright.

BTW CMA has a page claiming that FP, #9, and 3M SMR are non-abrasive and that they fill in swirls.

What page is that? I find the following on the page for FPII:

Final Polish II contains no wax, glaze, fillers or silicones. Minor spider webbing is removed, not just covered-up. Paint gloss is improved by polishing the surface to a micro-smooth, highly reflective finish, not by adding a glaze of silicone oils.

Final Polish II accomplishes this with micro-fine, precision milled, mineral abrasives, not with strong solvent cleaners. Menzerna Final Polish II is a water-based polish, safe for fresh paint or factory cured paint with or without a clear coat. It will not affect the curing process of new paint and will not create swirls. Used after compounding, Final Polish II will completely remove compounding haze (surface dullness) and restore a high gloss, swirl-free finish.

Swirls can be visually hid by polishing the surface with a non-abrasive polish such as Menzerna Final Polish, Meguiar's No. 9 Swirl Remover or 3M Perfect-It Swirl Remover. This rounds off the top edge of the swirl, robbing sunlight of a sharp edge to cause a reflection. When you buff off the polishing residues, fillers will stay in the depressions. Finish by applying your favorite wax or paint sealant. This will hold the fillers in place, cosmetically hiding swirls and minor paint blemishes. This procedure does not remove the swirl. Swirls may be visible in certain light conditions (fluorescent lamps are ruthlessly revealing) and will reappear as the wax ages. That said, most people will look at your car and think it's flawless.

They seem to say it's a polish but non-abrasive. Guess it's a matter of semantics. I wasn't aware that 3M SMR hides swirls.

From my own experience, this must be erroneous. I had a scratched CD that I went at with IP and then FPII. It was a flawless mirror when I was done. You can even see the abrasives in the polish as little specks and they are gone when the polish is broken down.

I ordered the polish and compound taking advantage of the 10% off sale and free shipping from blackfireusa.com

They told me the blackfire finishing polish is PO106FF with "additional lubrication" and the compound is a more abrasive polish made for them by Menzerna.

They should be here in a couple days.

I was invited out to the summer home of friend's of the family and they have two 2005 Mercedes and a brand new BMW 760i that they want me to detail. So I bought these polishes specifically to use in conjunction with my prized sample of PO85rd for these cars.

I just placed an order for Wet Diamond and some DA pads, will get some pic's out as soon as I get a chance to use it. Wildboar, the 10% discount is still active, it's listed in CMA's news letter.

Anyone tried it yet? Blackfire is not available in the UK so I've never tried any of their products yet, hopefully soon though!

Haven't tried it but looks like it may be available soon here. Carsparkle.com are listing it and FK products in the quick find drop down menu but not in the "shop" So may get to try both. :)

Cheers

Got a chance to use it on the hood of my car today. IMHO it looks very much like CMW (which I think looks great on black), very deep and wet. It does seem to make the paint just a little bit blacker than CMW does. I'm don't have the time now but will post some pic's tomorrow.

I would like to try it just to evaluate the sheeting vs. beading properties and to see if it really would be an advantage when it comes to water spotting.

Nothing looks worse to me on my black paint than white dusty water spots after a brief shower. :hairpull

I think only the very first Blackfire sheeted. I've the reformulated version from a few years ago, and the new wet diamond. They bead like crazy.

No updates on the Blackfire yet?

So far I still like it, I've applied it a few times and it still was easy on and off. It looks nice, a similar wet red to Zaino but maybe a little wetter and slightly less shine. I always liked the Blackfire look, but it could be hard to remove. The wet diamond seems to fix that while retaining the same look (looks the same to me anyway). No idea on durability though.
