BlackFire II - is it too good to be true?

hi Guys,



Been reading about this BlackFire II and it seems to be an incredible product... but is it really as good as the makers claim?



I've seen various pictures of vehicles that have been treated with BFII and they amazing.



Is it really worth the money, and does anyone know of a company that will ship to the UK, or indeed, if there is a distributor in England?

Blackfire doesn't have any distributors and there is only one place you can get it. www.properautocare.com is the only place to get Blackfire. It is pretty amazing stuff. As far as being worth the price, I'd say that its probably one of the more inexpensive sealants out there. However, getting it shipped out there where you are is likely to cost 3 times the product cost. It is really nice stuff and very worth the cost. Shipping is another issue...

That's the problem with living in England... we don't get many specialist detailing products, mostly autoglym, turtlewax etc. the mass market stuff. Oh, and crappy detailing weather :D

Actually, if you do a search of the reviews, they've been pretty mixed. Based on what I've read, my own experiences and several ppl that I've been PMing, the shine is terrific but buffing the product can be a real problem for SOME of us. For others, it works fine and is an excellent product.



And I don't consider 25 dollars all that cheap either.... With the exception of Z-5, it's more expensive than any other polymer that I know of.



I prefer Blackfire I. :D

Woah.... You know what...? I totally didn't think it was that high. For some reason I was thinking it was like twelve bucks or something. I'm going to definatly have to change my opinion on it. From what I've seen I'd say its a good product, but not that good. I don't know that $25 bucks a bottle is something I would pay for that. There are other sealants that cost less and provide great results and are probably more availible in the UK.



Klasse can be a one step program too if you want it to be. SG doesn't have to be layered on AIO. Just like Blackfire doesn't have to be layered on its own paint cleaner. If your paint requires cleaning first then you have to spend the money on a good paint cleaner anyway. I would always go for AIO as far as that goes.
 
I think in terms of value, I'd give the nod to Platinum which costs less than a dollar/ounce.... Plus you get free shipping on all orders over $75 bucks. Too bad that only applies to the 48 contiguous states.



Who knows though..... If they're willing to offer free shipping on a good sized domestic order, perhaps they'd be inclined to cut you some sort of overseas shipping discount if you place a good sized order.



BTW, I mention Platinum because many of its positive attributes are similar to that of BF's (i.e. polymer that shines like a carnauba).
 
Although BF II sealant is $25, it's a 16 oz. bottle. Z5 is $17 for 8 oz. In my experience, you can apply BF even thinner than Z (the stuff seems to spread forever). Cost per application is less than Z5, on par or slightly less than Z2. IMO, CMA would do well to offer smaller bottles at a suitably pro-rated price; it would ease the cost of entry. Also, if you only have one car to do, 16 oz. is going to last a very, very long time.



Anyway, I guess my point is that while BF certainly isn't cheap, its cost per application is reasonable, and not out-of-line with other quality sealants and waxes.

A year or so ago, we only had One Grand, Gummi, 3M, so things have got a lot better. Shipping pushes up the costs in a big way but on the other hand, most things in the UK are expensive anyway.
