Blackfire & Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection

Is there a difference between Blackfire and Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. I was reading the description of the Four Star at Premium Auto Care and it sounded almost exactly like Blackfire. Any ideas? Was just curious.

There very close in formulation, and characteristics. I would have to give a slight edge to BF in depth and color though, very enhancing on metallics. BF tends to be oilier also, which can attribute to dust accumulation. This is eleviated after a wash, or application of Gloss enhancer QD......Both excellent products, and two of my "go to's" without any hesitation....Also two of my most recommended polymers......

I agree with AKA Patrick, although *my* preference runs towards UPP. I didn't see much difference after the first wash, and UPP seems easier to use (less chance of smearing, etc.). I also believe UPP is a little less finicky about what you apply it over. UPP seems to stay slicker longer.

On Audi silver, BF darkened the finish more than UPP, perhaps because of the oils. Side-by-side comparisons with the same paint done in a carnauba were pretty  You'd swear they were two different paint codes. Don't get the same difference with UPP. Whether you *like* the darkening will be a personal preference, but it's worth noting.

Actually, I do like the darkening effect. I once put two coats of NXT on my Mom's metallic smoke colored E320. After observing the cure time for NXT, I topped off with 3M Show Car paste wax. I could swear the car looked darker. I liked it!

Interesting that you should mention the 3M paste. IIRC, that was the wax that I was comparing to the (darker) BF finish. Dunno if the NXT had anything to do with it though...

What's IIRC?

Don't know if NXT had anything to do with it. I did not notice the darkening affect until after I put on the 3M. And I observed the cure times of NXT to the letter that time. Apply NXT. Wait 24 hrs. Apply another coat of NXT. Wait another 24 hrs. Apply 3M. Stand back and admire.:)
