Blackfire, first impressions

OH . . MY . . GOD.

My Tacoma is new. It came in at the port of New Orleans about 3 weeks ago. It has been washed twice, now. The paint is beautiful, and I only bought this BF kit to protect it. If you think a new car can't look any better, guess again.

I have it in the shop at work (Saturday) because of bad weather. I washed it good with the BF shampoo, brought it inside and did the polish. This was kind of hard by hand, but not real bad. The protectant coat was a breeze. I let it dry for 2 hours before buffing. I'm going to come back in the morning and give it one more coat to be safe.

A word of advice. Follow directions. Use only nickle sized blobs of the stuff. The protectant is kinda like grease in that it goes a long way. I'll give you pics tomorrow and my impression of the spray gloss after I use it.

<FONT SIZE="+1">I received much help on this site, so here is my contribution for other weekend warriors. Blackfire is easy to use, and a little goes a long way. If you don't have a lot of bucks, this is a good choice. The new car kit was $49 and the gloss spray was about $17, but this should last me for at least 2 years, so I think it is a good deal. A few of my observations:

1 - The Microfiber towels from Dollar Tree don't work as well as the good stuff. They don't get the bite when buffing, as does the better stuff. Scotch Bright, Viper, and Viking Microfiber towels all worked well. The Dollar Tree towels are okay for applying your second coat of finish protectant. Use the applicator on the first coat. Save yourself some Blackfire by using the DTree MF towel for the second coat. Use tiny amounts. This stuff spreads like butter, very easy.

2 - I received some good advice here on drying time. When you think it's time, wait a little longer. I gave the protectant about 2 hours to dry.

3 - The hard part is the polish. You gotta use elbow grease here, but the protectant slides on very easy if you did a good job with the polish.

4 - This stuff really looks good, and it is supposed to be very durable. We'll see.

Thanks for the help. I'm outa here. (Here's the obligatory pic. I had to work inside due to bad weather.)

Everything black is done with 303 Aerospace Protectant, as are the light lenses and wheels. The glass got Stoner's Invisible Glass.
