I just ordered Blackfire Duo and a Lake Country thin wool pad after reading this: http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/detail-institute-presented-autopia-carcare-com/43194-da-cutting-pad-show-down.html. I plan on giving it a try this weekend on the wife's truck.
Can anyone with experience tell me how they've primed this new pad and how long they're working the polish? Todd says the polish broke down within 90 seconds in the above thread. I normally work the Menzerna for 3-4 minutes with a 7424 on speed 5 with an orange pad and Menzerna Power Finish.
In the past, I polished wifey's black 2012 QX56 with Menzerna Power Finish (PO203). It came out OK, but still lots of spider webs from sitting on the dealer's lot and being washed by the dealer before purchasing it new.
Although we put signs up and have the service manager indicate on the service order not to wash the truck, last visit they washed it. The truck looks like swirl city in the sunlight.
I'm going to try a test spot and do a side by side with Blackfire Compound on an orange pad on one side and on the thin wool pad on the other then finish up with Black Fire finishing polish on a flat white pad. I'm looking for some guidance on the thin wool pad with a 7424 as I've never used wool. I'm mainly looking for priming technique and expected worktime. Normally, I'll prime an orange pad by "buttering" an orange pad with polish. After the first use, using 4 dots on the pad to move to the next section. I'm reading this new LC thin wool pad requires more product than normal pads.
Can anyone provide their experience working with this new pad on a 7424, preferable with Blackfire SRC Compound?
