Black wow on fender wells?

I had bought a small 2oz bottle of black wow from Phil and was going to use it on a CTS-V I had done, the owner wasn't to worried about it so I never used it. My car is only 1 year old so the fender wells aren't at all worn out or anything, but if I use the black wow on them would it last long? Should I just save it for some faded plastic on one of my details?



I had bought some meg's endurance tire shine so that I try it first, but since i've never used the BW I just figured i'd ask if someone else had any experience with it.
 
I personally use UTTG for my fender wells and I've been very happy with it. I doubt Black Wow lasts much longer than UTTG.



I'd get some C4 or DLUX for faded trim if you want it to last, personally. I'm halfway through my bottle of C4 and I plan on trying DLUX next due to its good reviews.
 
Not sure about using a product like this on the inside of your fenders (wheelhouse liners)? I think it is designed to perform well on exterior textured trim?



For wheel liners, I like (a) cleaning them really well with APC and a brush and leaving them alone/bare. Or (b) in addition to cleaning them, dressing then (while wet) with a water based protectant.
 
I have used multiple products on plastic wells (Solution Finish, Ultima UTTG, PB Trim Restorer). I think it does help keep wells cleaner and darker longer than some undercarriage sprays (Griots, Bare Bones).
 
Sounds like you applied it improperly. If you still have it the product, I'd be happy to give you some tips that would likely increase your satisfaction on it. Your description "Greasy, low durability, and thinking that a "thin" application will not run in the rain" are all clues that you didn't apply the product to achieve the best results. For maximum durability and best application, the plastics need to be properly prepped, then dried, then Black Wow is applied and let it soak. Applying it before it has had time to absorb properly, i.e. a few hours before a rain storm will likely guarantee it to run in the rain because it's still on the surface. Once it's absorbed into the trim, it won't run. That's why I tell people to apply it and let it absorb for days. The greasiness will diminish as it absorbs and once absorbed, a normal wash will remove what's on the surface leaving a nice matte dark finish. Black Wow is a trim restoration product more so than a dressing. Properly applied easily last 6 months to a year or longer with a matte finish. The dark strip on the left is 6 months, the lighter strip to the right of it to the left edge of the license plate is 13 months and to the right of the plate is no product. This is on a vehicle that lives outside 24/7. Bottom pic is after 4 months.

While it won't hurt the fender wells and will probably keep them black for a long time, you will need to thoroughly clean it before applying BW for best results and IMO, you're better off using a cheaper water based product like Meguiar's Hyper Dressing or Optimum Opti Bond for that as you can cover it more easily and won't be as sensitive to how clean the surface is for best results. As the manufacturer of Black Wow, I like to use it where it counts..on visible external plastics that really need restoring. As in the above picture, 1 year durability is common and if you touch it up in the areas that are starting to show more diminishing than others...you can really extend the look of that so it looks great without having to reapply it over the entire area. In that picture above you can see that after 13 months it's not as uniform but if you just apply BW over those areas, it will become uniform again.
