I've been lurking about for quite awhile and have a question or two for you experienced detailers.
I have a new, black, F150 that I have used Zaino on. I was really pleased with the Zaino, but now I'm starting to see what I would call spiderwebbing - very fine marks in the finish. I can see them only in certain light conditions, direct sunlight makes them dissappear, but indirect sunlight allows me to see them. Z5 doesn't touch them.
I have some PI II fine cut compound that I have applied by hand, in spots, but after wiping the dust off, I still have the marks.. I suspect that my towels are the culprit, so I have ordered some MF towels, and also a PC 7424, because I'm tired of rubbing by hand. Got the 6 inch velcor backing plate and a couple of the CMA orange power pads. I also have Menzerna polishes on the way, just for kicks.
I wash with Fieldcrest towels cut into pieces, using Gold Class shampoo. I dry with the Cali water blade followed by the absorber. I have wahed the towels, etc, in liquid detergent and air dryed them (they feel a bit stiff).
Are these spiderweb marks different from "micro scratches" and are they both different from swirl marks? I don't think I have any swirl marks, as I have applied all the Zaino in straight back and forth motions, per directions.
My truck is still the shiniest on the block, but, I would like to to look like some of the pics I've seen here..
Any words of wisdom while I await the arrival of my new toys?
And just so you don't think I'm a total slacker, here's a tip that I haven't seen here. For easier cleaning wheelwells, I am trying Mop & Glow under there on my wife's Honda minivan. We used Pam kitchen spray on the 4-wheelers - the mud almost jumped off the plastic....
Thanks!
Pat
