Black s2000

My friend recently purchased this s2000, it is a 2001 with 18K miles. Mechanically and interior wise it was great and he got a really good deal. Unfortunately, the previous owner swirled the hell out of this car. It was pretty bad and as a relatively beginner weekend detailer, this was a challenge for me. Here the process:

Meguiar's Suds Wash (old school shampoo he had)

Mother's Clay

SSR 2.5 via Orange Propel Polishing Pad

P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion via Green Propel Polishing Pad

Wolfgang Sealant

I tried ssr 2.5 via a green pad before moving to the orange, but the green just wasn't cutting it (pun intended). I really took my time with the orange pad and ssr 2.5, almost 20 minutes/panel. The hood was by-far the worst part, took a while to polish it out. Heres the pics:

No day pics, as you can see we started in the day and ended at night. Maybe the next time he washes, we'll add a layer of WG and get better pics. Either way, I was really pleased with the results, the swirls killed the look of the car in direct light. Another thing, orange peel is does not exist on this car.

WOW...great job on the s2k. I never see those cars in black.

I couldn't even tell if the first pic on your second post was a reflection until I scrolled to the right.

That is one heck of a transformation! You really did a great job on it. Guess that SSR 2.5 really does work. :p :xyxthumbs

wow. stunning work. very nicely done! I've got a silverstone 2000 s2k, thank god it's not black or my arms would have fallen off by now :) That first door reflection shot is amazing. I hope your friend paid you well :)

Thanks for the compliments, I am real happy it turned out well. A car like that deserves to be relatively swirl free. Actually, it was as if the prior owner washed the car with dirty sponges or something, because there were up and down marks all over the place. Either that, or they washed the car with their rings on, because I am really not sure how marks like that are made.

guapsnaman - the interior is red

animes2k - I want a silverstone/red s2k for myself. no payment on this detail, i guess i am a good friend ;) . It hurt me to see the car all swirled up, so I was kinda the driving force behind doing a complete detail.

SSR 2.5 is great, I experience no hazing at all. I was going to go to ssr 1 afterwards, but I decided to use the paint cleanser instead.
