I've been waiting 6 months to detail my car once again. It's been a long midwestern winter IMHO. I'm certainly glad it's over. I bought some Souveran several months ago and finally was able to use it today. It's definitely an amazing wax.



I was also able to try some of the UF for the first time. I order a bottle and split it with several other members here. I can't believe how easy this polish is to use. It made the rotary just glide across the paint with ease. I've managed to perfect my washing routine so the swirls were minimal. Nevertheless, the polish took care of the fine blemishes that remained effortlessly. :up



Process:

1. ONR Wash

2. Clayed using "Detailers Pride" Clay, which I hate... too hard. ONR lube (worked very well)

3. ONR again

4. Polish with UF using Makita at 1500-1800

5. ISP wipe down

6. RMG by hand

7. Souveran by hand

8. Tires received Ultima Tire and Trim Sealant (:woot2:)



No before. Trust me, it was dirty!

Yes, actually I did. I have mixed emotion about metallic pain, especially one black vehicles. I feel nuba' on metallic just does not do justice to the finish. I feel I can get much more depth out of non-metallic black pain. However, when using a sealant like OS, the paint and flake pop. Kinda' sucks because I have a whole lot of Souveran and Opti-Seal both.

I am curious as to how the workability of the 3 paint is. I own one, a 2007 Pear White, and am getting ready to purchase a PC. How aggressive product do you think is needed?

It's hard for me to really answer that question. This is the first time I've polished this car in 1 year of ownership. As mentioned early, I been perfecting my washing technique for several years and have learned how to wash w/o causing any significant marring, therefore the only products required to make the finish on my car perfect was a white 5.5 inch LC pad on the rotary at 1500-1800 rpm using 3M UF, a very mild polish.



Based on my experience with some other vehicles, I would say the Mazda 3 paint is fairly soft considering I perfected my finish with a polishing pad and mild polish.



Your paint condition may require a heavier polish and /or pad. Nevertheless, I would say if you had some SIP and 106FF or UF, you could perfect the finish on the Mazda 3 paint.
