Hi.

This was a detail I did on saturday on a 2003 Ford Lobo Lariat (Mexico version of F-150). It belongs to a co-worker, and I had been trying to get him to agree to let me detail it.

Process:

Interior - sorry no pictures

Vacuum

Woolite on seats followed by turtle wax leather conditioner

Carpets and mats cleaned with oxy, and extracted with shop vac.

Vinyl got Meguiar's Quick interior detailer.

Exterior -

Clean tires and wells with A2Z, dressed with armor all

Wash with QEW

SSR 2.5 with cutting pad on PC

SSR 1 with light cutting pad on PC

Natty's blue with finishing pad

Plastic got 303 Aerospace protectant.

Now for the pictures:

Hood after:

Driver side door before and after (left side SSR2.5 only, right side untouched):

I had an incredibly hard time removing the swirls, this is my second experience with Ford paint (rookie), and I always have to go to SSR2.5 w/cutting pad to make a dent on the swirls.

I appreciate your comments, this is my first click and brag.

i have used ssr2.5 with a cutting pad, and did not manage to get the swirls out. did you use a slight pressure on pc, how long did you stay in a area?

It is possible your paint is harder. Put enough pressure on the pc to bog it then back off just enough for it to pick up speed and use that amount of pressure. Slow passes (about 1" per second with 50% overlapping passes) with the speed on 5-6 should also help.

Elhorch-excellent job on those halo swirls. :2thumbs:

The paint looks really deep and wet now!

Thanks for all the comments!

I worked SSR2.5 at 6 on the pc, doing slow passes and going over the same area several times (figure 8's, front to back, side to side.) One thing that I think helped was that I primed the pad with QD everytime I put the polish on the pad, it also helped me to get a little more time before the polish dried; working in the sun at 94 degrees made the polish dry very fast.

I will see the truck again - will be washing it this thursday, and will be maintaining it from here on.

Regarding the durability of natty's, I have found about 2 months before beading starts to diminish - I have used it on my car, and in my last wash I found beading to be minimal. Will add another coat this weekend and post pictures.

Thanks again.

I got about 2 months out of NB when I used it over zaino.

I have a red one lined up for sunday that used to belong to the owner of this truck, it is a 2001 that has never seen wax, and is more swirled than the black one.

I need to get a more aggressive compound than SSR2.5, or a wool pad.

I'll post pictures of it when I'm done.

Jorge.
