Black Harley engine's?

I just did a clean and polish on a Road King with the part of the engine blacked out. On the right side there are white spots on some of the black paint. I'm thinking its minerals from water drying on the engine. Am I right? If so what can I use to remove this. I didn't want to use any of my cleaners because I was worried about removing the paint. Is I ended up leaving them and the owner was fine with that. But what can I use on it next time?

Try S&G applied with a clean spoke brush and buffed off with whatever you can get in there that's absorbent. Should take care of water spots and it should also add a bit of gloss. For a more durable solution you could use DP spray shield in a similar way, haven't used it but I've heard good things about it.
 
Almost any stain or water spot I have found on paint came off with no damage to the paint with either Klasse AIO or Poorboy's PwC.
I would think any of the good OTC paint cleaners would do the job. Meguiar's makes several and S100 SEC is available at most Harley shops.

I didn't think to try AIO. But as far as gloss goes that can't happen. Its more of a flat rough finish. It somes like its a rough cast painted black. So I'm not adding any shine to that spot. BTW the last time (I washed the same spot 4 times) I washed/rinsed the used air to blow it dry right after the rinse. The water didn't sit at all and they were still there. I'm not sure if I said it all ready but it was there before I did the bike not after.

I use s100 engine brightner on my bikes.It works great it is made for the wrinkle coat finish in the engine but works great on plastic and hoses.It also stands up to hi temps.Picked mine up a the Harley shop for around $7.It also comes with a metered spray tube to get in places w/o over spray.here is a pic of the can hope this helps.It always gets any water spots off for me.If you try to use any thing else the rough texture will shred any towel or pad then you are stuck getting that off the finish

i have the same engine in my bike and that is what i use. can't go wrong with it.
