This time I worked on another pickup truck and boy do I have respect for the pro detailers. Detailing a truck really is a lot of square footage. I was exhausted when I finished. The only trouble I had was with the tires. He takes the truck to the auto wash and I think they are using some funky silicone spray. I could not get any of my tire treatments to work. Nevertheless, the truck turned out well and he is happy.



Here's the process:



**Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner agitated with Griots wheel brush then rinse

**Zaino Z-7 wash

**Claying with Z-18 and Z-6

**Zaino Z-7 wash

**Z-PC Fusion to remove swirls

**Z-2 Pro and ZFX cocktail

**P21S Polishing Soap on Chrome Wheels (stuff is amazing)

**Trim Restorer on Dorr Handles

**303 Aerospace Protectant on rubber window trim

Nope. As I stated earlier, there is something funky on them from the local auto wash. :( Z-16 could not penetrate it nor could FX Tire Shine. Would have really completed the look. He may get some new tires soon so maybe then we can try something.



Oh yeah, I did apply a layer of Z-8 after everything....so that was the last step in the process. :)

Who cares about the tires! That looks great...Was the swirling only minimal since you used ZPC. I'm not really familiar with it's cut...Keep up the great work! :wavey

It was bad in places but the Z-PC got most of it. I'm very pleased with the product. It also minimized a few deep scratches nicely but we would have to use a rotary to finish those off. Z-PC left a very slick surface afterword somewhat similar to SSR2.5.

For the future, I have had similar problems with tires of the sort too. Give Poorboy's BnB, NL, or LS a shot. I found them to 'beat' the old stuff away.

As far as the tires, I'd give them a good cleaning with a solid APC diluted 1:1. My father's BMW had that awful tire gel on it that also sprayed all over the car. I cleaned the tires with Castrol APC 1:1 with a tire brush and it ate through the grime. That's what I use on all my tire cleanings and it has never failed. You can try a quality aerosol tire dressing that has cleaners in it. I find No Touch to work the best in this category.

I have it too - the 777 APC? That's what I have. Dillute it 4:1 and use that.



I have found Castrol APC at $5 a gallon to be one of the best APC's out there.



You can also try your EFHI dilluted 1:1 or even full strength. I used mine 3:1 on my tires today.



If those wheels are uncoated, be careful (if clear coated, you're totally fine). The EFHI dilluted 3:1 won't harm them and the AutoMagic dilluted 4:1 claims not to blush metal.



If that should occur a quality metal polish will clean it up. That P21s polishing soap with a soft towel would work. Like you, I love that stuff on uncoated metals. It doesn't replace a dedicated metal paste polish but cuts down the buffing time and does a nice job.



Also the No Touch aersol tire spray is a very good product which doesn't contain petrolleum distillates or harmful solvents that would brown and crack tires. It has UV inhibitors and provides nice cleaning action all at the same time. No Touch invented aerosol tire sprays and it isn't in the same league as the cheaper ones. I have a case of it ;)

Suggestion for the tires-Meguiars Tire Cleaner. It is a foam product that does a great job cleaning old tire dressing and other residue off tires.
