Black Brand "New" Trailblazer SS (30+ Pics)

My Dad brought home his brand "new" SS on Friday. I say "new" because apparently it's been sitting outside at a dealership in Northern Michigan since May. But who knows where the original stock Trailblazer had been sitting before modification. Whatever the reason, the paint had an extremely dull appearance in person, prior to polishing.

It had some very light dealer installed swirls and some nice scratches on the back bumper. The paint also had this really strange hazing, or almost cloudy appearance. Is it possible for unprotected clear on such a new car to already be oxidized?

Anyways, we took care of business. No cleaning pictures since I did it the night before.

Foamed using Meg Gold Class (with my new Gilmor Gun!)

Washed with Meg Gold Class

Menzerna IP on Orange / PC over hood and bumper scratches

Menzerna FPII on White / PC whole car

Klasse AIO / PC

Klasse HGS

Trim dressed with Sonus Trim and Rubber

I finally got my Dad to wax one of his cars. Incriminating picture:

The TBSS is one of the coolest things on the road. It looks awesome.

Also, they come like that from the factory, so the "original TB" is that one. It hasn't been modified by anyone.

Nice job on the new car, you might want to back off your sharpness though, the pictures look very granulated to me?

Eitherways nice job on a cool truck!

Nice job on the detail, looks a lot better. But as the above poster mentioned, the vehicle was never modified...this is how the vehicle comes from the factory.

Love the new TB SS as they are one sweet SUV. Nice job on the detail and now tell your dad to get some custom rims on that rig as no way do you want a sweet ride like that to look like anyone else's.

Yeah, I was trying to get the side and the front so increasing the shutter speed made those last two grainy. Just the wrong time of day and lighting for what I was wanting it to do.

In response to the factory stuff this is what I've heard: "While they are right that it hasn't been modified, the body comes from chevy which is then shipped to the company in texas who builds all there SS vehicles so its hard to say how old the body actually is. Could be wrong but thats coming from marketing specialists at Ford's SVT who know about there special vehicle competitors."

:dunno:

I forgot to mention, it has a one of a kind roof rack, lol. Custom order from the Dealer. So it's not like everyone else's. :P

Thanks for the comments guys.

Anyone know what was up with the paint?

I like how you mentioned how you got your dad to wax one of his vehicles. My dad has never waxed his suburban, but he ALWAYS wants shiny/wet looking paint. But why would he need to do it when his son has all the time in the world to wax a friggin home on wheels:wall haha.

BTW, the TBSS looks great. I happen to be a fan of the SS's aswell.

Never listen to a ford SVT guy when it comes to GM Performance Division vehicles. The "texas company" they're referring to is either the JGP (Joe Gibbs Performance) line of vehicles or the RST (Regency Sport Trucks) conversion... those 2 are aftermarket GM endorsed modified vehicles... all of the SS line is built at the factory by GM and shipped directly to the dealer. Also a true indicator is the GMPD badge on the engine cover, and the GM badges just in front of the SS's on the doors (07+ vehicles)... those are only installed on GM factory built vehicles. The JGP and RST trucks do not have them. So rest assured that TB was put together and shipped to the dealer as is.... I should know... I've owned just a couple SS vehicles :xyxthumbs

That has to be a first... he ADDED a roof rack to the TBSS?!?! Part of the reason I love my TBSS so much is the lack of a roof rack.

The TBSS is a nice truck for sure.

As far as I remember, the only SS Chevy that needed to got somewhere else to get modified were the 96-02 Camaro SS. The Firebird Firehack and TransAm Firehack aslo had to be modified. (This comes from what I remember, so I might be wrong...)

BTW: to forwarn you now... the TBSS has a notorious seeping glue issue around the plate box in the back... you'll notice it the first time its sits in direct sun on a warm day... the bottom edge of the seal will start to leak the adhesive... there is currently no TSB for it so just be prepared to use a bug/tar remover for a while and eventually the excess will run out.

Haha, yeah, for his Kayak on camping trips.

Oh boy, that sounds like fun. Thanks for the info.

Rousch (SP) goes for modification. What did that thing run your pops???

Sticker said $36k. It's a lease, so I'm not sure what his monthly payment is.

Excelent shine! I vote for keeping the stock wheels...

I have driven a Trailblazer SS and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8. My vote will go to the SRT-8 any day of the week, but I give props to GM for trying to keep up.

I want to run my truck next to a Silverado SS, but have not yet gotten the chance.

LOL, I was just about to say something similar. Although I love the looks of both, if you want to go fast, SRT-8 all the way.

I have a buddy in Jersey that has a lot of mods on his TBSS (headers, Corsa, some kind of tuner that isn't quite out yet, Throttle body (prototype), MAF (prototype), as well as taller gears front and rear), and he got spanked reapeatedly by a stock Jeep SRT-8.

Plus the Jeep has way more supportive seats and creature comforts.

But, the look is what I place my first judgement on when buying a new car, and both of them are hot if you ask me.

About the paint, it looks as if it was washed by someone with a shop rag......or a brush, or a scotch brite pad.....LOL.

Awesome turnaround!

I wish I could talk my wife into waxing.....let alone my dad.

Great work. I'm hoping to get a TBSS when I finally get settled into a house. It would be my weekend vehicle and for towing a boat! They seem to be a wonderful do all vehicle...

How well does the paint clean up? I was thinking about picking up a black one and I was curious about how receptive the paint is to defect removal...
