black and decker rotery?

2000

I have a black and decker rotery which still works great after all these years. this model is now the dewalt 849, however the dewalt starts at 1000 rpms and the black and decker starts at 1500 rpms. how accurate is the dials? are they really the same speed with different dials or did they give the dewalt more speed control?

thanks if anyone knows.

thats like my makita 9207c that is now the 9227c(which starts at 900 rpms compared to my 1500rpms). Honestly, its nice to have lower than 1500, but i honestly never used the makita 9227c at a lower speed than 1500 when i got to try it out. "If it ain't broke, don't fix or replace it."

yea,

I really don't want to replace it, as I've grown rather fond of it. Just wondering if the difference is in the dial or the motor. I do agree "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

thanks!
