Black 2003 Avalanche

after much anticipation and interesting reading no this board, i finally bought the lexol cleaner and conditioner. (I also got 303 and Zaino but have not yet recieved the products yet)

Here's what happened with my lexol treatment:

I could tell right away my leather seats were dirty because at the edge where the seat meets the back, every wipe is a brown smudge of dirt and debris on white towel . rest of the seats are okay, just a bit dirty.

however, after i cleaned and conditioned, the next morning, i didnt see any difference as before? in terms of appearance?

does lexol need multiple use before changes can be seen? am i not using enough?

also, what kind of material (towels?) should i be using to wash/clean/condition?

so far, it's a big disappointment because i see NO DIFFERENCE (except knowning inside its cleaner than before). I guess I was expecting a miracle shine or something :(

Yes, a brush. It should be an interior brush that is nice and soft. This works the best for me, and I ran into the very same thing as you did the first time I cleaned my Expedition's leather seats with Zaino leather cleaner. Use the towel to wipe off the residue after working it in with the brush. You will be surprised how much more gunk you will get off the seats. Then condition and you're done.

so i guess its just to clean the seats. not really a good shine afterwards? maybe I'm expecting to much, as if lexol will turn my leather into brand new or something...

boy, i sure hope zaino isn't this disappointing...:(

I use the same exact brush.

And, yes, it may take several applications of Lexol to get the seats as clean as you expect them. Lexol is a rather mild product. And don't forget to use wet towels to remove any cleaner residue from the seats.

You should notice some difference in the suppleness of the leather but I don't think most people want to make the leather too shiney. Lexol's website has some pretty good instructions for cleaning and conditioning leather seats with their products. Check them out at the link below.

I have been using Lexol for years based on it's reputation, but was not satisfied at all. I finally came here and learned about Eagle One and have never looked back. Lexol is made for "rougher" outdoors type leather, horse saddles and stuff and has not advance to treat the newer types of interior leathers. EO will give you a nice, none-greasy sheen that LOOKS like you have conditioned the leather. It has newer ingredients and absorbs and moisturizes very well. Unlike some here, I want to see a visual difference when I condition my seats, after using Lexol I NEVER saw any difference. EO has a good reputation, so try it. It's much cheaper to boot!!!!!!!

man, I also just got Zaino's Leather in a Bottle (not arrived yet). so it doenst make sense for me to also buy Eagle One.

How's Leather in a Bottle? will it give me a better appearance than Lexol?

Lexol breaks their products into three categories: Auto Interiors, Equestrian and Household. It's not all the same stuff.

However I do appreciate the tip on Eagle One from someone who has used both products. Thanks ZV! :up

I really like the Zaino leather-in-a-bottle conditioner. It made my tan seats softer and new-looking. Smells really good, too. I don't know how it compares to Lexol because I have never used it. I also liked the Zaino leather cleaner - it removed 3+ years of dirt from the seats once I used the brush method of cleaning. I would suspect that any quality cleaner that gets the seats clean is just fine.

So, try the Zaino stuff you have coming and if you don't like it (highly unlikely) you can give it to me. :D

Lexol is just wishful thinking. I cant stand that stuff. I applied it to both nude and clear coated leathers with very poor results. Leatherique may be what you are looking for. Best leather restorer/conditioner/maintainer I've ever seen. It will soften the seats and pull out all the dirt and oils. It will also benefit from repeated applications. My next project is to try Z9 (And I know Guess My Name is waiting for a review :D ) and Z10 leather in a bottle (because I heard from so many it makes your car smell like leather). For now thought I'm going to finish off my leatherique.

Zaino Z-10 Leather in a Bottle is the only Zaino product I own right now. I would have to say it is my favorite leather treatment product as it smells like leather and leaves a nice satin finish. :up

Another one of my favorites is Pinnacle Leather Conditioner, but at the price I like to use it every now and then to "pamper" my leather. Also has a great leather smell and leaves a satin finish. :up

I've also tried Eagle One too and it's a great product for the price. The only reason I don't use it on a regular basis is because it leaves a high gloss finish and I'm not really a fan of that on my interior.

Pick one of the three and you can't go wrong. Hope this helps!

This avalanche was needing a light paint correction. Owner was not looking for perfection, just wanted it to shine and add some protection. I corrected it with my dewalt rotary with some menzerna and 3M products, 3 steps total. And I finished it off with 2 coats of Black Fire Wet Diamond. The customer was very impressed with the mirror like finish to the paint. No before pictures, just some after beauty shots. Thanks for looking!

HotRod,
The Avalanche looks great. Very wet looking.:drool5:
How long did the whole process take you?

Thanks!

This job took 1.5 days to complete the exterior and interior, I did a full interior detail to this vehicle also but I did not get any pictures.
