I always follow up my LGM with my shop vac.

Same here.

There's not doubt that Folex is good stuff, but...

Autopian Grouse has a few really good carpet cleaning threads around here, and in a couple of them he recommends using Prochem Ultrapac Trafficlean as a pre-spray, and then Liquid Slurry as an extraction detergent, followed by All Fiber Rinse to finish up. That sounds like a lot of steps, but the chemicals work so well and so fast that it doesn't take much time to use all three chemicals. And the chemicals are *cheap*, too. One gallon of Liquid Slurry will make over 600 gallons of highly concentrated extraction liquid.

The Prochem chemicals blew the doors off Folex in cleaning the nasty carpets in my parent's rental house. One of the renters (there was a total of four college boys renting the house) was an auto mechanic, and he had no problem with walking all through the house with car grease/oil/etc on his shoes. The prochem stuff made quick work of all of it.

Qucik summary of an effective method (again, huge thanks to Grouse!)

1. Apply Prochem Ultrapac Traficlean using a sprayer. Agitate with a brush. A PC with the brush attachments would work really well.

2. Extract with your LGM and the Liquid Slurry. Repeat until extraction water is clean.

3. Extract once more with LGM and All Fiber Rinse. This will neutralize the detergents, help prevent resoiling, and the carpet will dry soft instead of stiff.

Where do you find all this stuff online or locally in Canada?

I got my initial shipment by ordering from prochem.com, but they send the order to one of their distributors that is close to you and ship it from there. I'm not sure if they have any distributors in Canada. But if you want to work out some sort of trade like Prochem for Riccardo clay, we could probably work something out.... ;)

DetailnByDustn, how do you find the suction on the LGM? I bought mine (Bissell Auto Care Proheat) about 3 weeks ago and am disappointed by the low suction. The carpet seems to be still quite wet and I have to keep going over it multiple times to get the water out. The Turbo Brush that comes with mine spins quite slowly and so I don't really use the Turbo Brush.

Last time I detailed the X5 I resorted to using my Bissell Garage Pro Vac, which has a LOT better suction and left the carpet nearly dry.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps there is something wrong with my Bissell Auto Care Proheat. It does the job, but the suction really lacks.

Ive got the same machine auto pro heat and the suction is okay, but I think the heater on the machine restricts the vacumming because the heater needs some of the voltage to work thus causing less voltage for suction.

Thanks everyone for the posts, Ill try folex when I go to asheville to get something, I rinsed them off and most of all the dirty came out, but the car had been heavily neglected, the paint was getting oxidation occuring in certain spots had to break out the compound and finished with a polish looks brand new, 5 hours later haha, Ill post some of the pictures under Oxidaized Mustang when I get them uploaded

The LGM is okay for little jobs. When you get some car mats or interior carpet that has not been vacumed or cleaned for a few years. This will sometime clog the machine. It does not have enough lift. If you can't afford to step up to an extractor. You may have to pressure wash the really dirt filled mats. For interiors, you will spend alot of time vacuming.

Yeah I should of just invested in the extraction vac instead of the little green machine, saved me 130 dollars

The LGM is a toy. I've got the heated version and gotten a bunch of use out of it around the homestead. It does OK, but really doesn't have quite enough suction. I found I've got to heat the water to get it hot enough.

I think a real machine will be $500 and up. I could never justify the $$$$, I'd rarely use it. I know there are a bunch of threads going on this topic already.

Wonder why they recommend the non heated version..

Im glad I got my Little Green... For interior's that aren't that bad, and being able to knock out cloth seats makes it easy...

+1- My LGM is perfect for me and works darn good. I spent 10-15 minutes per 10+yr old soiled matts and they look almost brand new..this was incld. 5 minutes to let the Folex set it, and another couple mins. to scrub with brush.
