Birthday for a Detailer

Hello

I'm looking to get someone a great gift setup for his birthday. He's an amateur car enthusiast in all respects. (Right now hes going through the motions of painting his first car) Anyways, all he wants for his birthday is a detailing setup. Currently he has all the basics for washing his car but hes progressing and wants to continue onto some more professional products and using a Porter Cable polisher. So my question is, what does he need besides the actual polisher as far as pads, compounds, etc.? Also, what professional detailing products would you recommend for someone who wants to expand besides what one finds at the typical auto parts stores? I think he mentioned klasse all in 1 ?

Pads: 2 yellow, 2 white, 2 black pads http://www.topoftheline.com/7durvelpad.html

I would also get the sealant glaze for better shine.

As far as polishes, there are quite a few choices, but Megiure's DACP or 3M's Fine Cut Rubbing Compound are pretty good and you can usually buy them locally at like Pepboys, Wal mart, or NAPA

Depending on how all out you want to go, a few more good things would be:

-Clay (Mother's clay kit is good, available at pepboys)

-Sheepskin wash mits

-Microfiber drying towels (Walmart just started stocking some that are pretty nice and inexpensive, I believe the brand name was microtex, I just bought 4 for like $5 each)

This is a generous gift. You're looking at $200-250 for a PC, velcro backing plate, and some pads. Check this out: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/pc-7424-kit.html

As for polishes, there is a massive selection. You can see some of the good ones here: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/dual-action-polishers.html

I'd recommend three polishes to start and he can fill in the rest. Get him an aggressive cutting polish, a moderate "all purpose" polish, and a fine finishing polish. The three from 1Z would be an excellent choice.

A microfiber kit would also be a great gift. I like the kit sold by WaynesTowels: http://www.waynestowels.com/ Look at Special #1.

I can think of a million things to buy him but the above would be an excellent starter kit. Have fun shopping!!!
