Bird poo stain on new paint!

Just got my hood painted on my Saab and was told to wait about 1 month until I should wax it. Anyways, came out of work today and I had bird crap on my hood. Washed it off and it left a mark! You can only see the etching at an angle but not if you look directly over it. So I have had this new paint for 2 weeks and now I've got this. Any direction as to how to get this etching out?

yikes! i had that happen last summer when i had new paint. i tried to get to it with meguiars quik detailer as soon as i noticed the bombs. i have an etching stuck on my roof. u can try a quik detailer. spray it on let it sit see if u can gently get it off using a mf towel or terry towel not paper towel. i couldnt get that one out but i have been successful in getting recent bombs off with no etching.

u can protect your finish by using a polish like mequiars #7, a pure polish with no cleaners in it, during the gassing out phase of a new paint job. that is what i did. i put it on by hand. good luck! hope someone else here is more knowledgeable.

I just had a respray on my hood and got some water spots on it during the "no wax stage"- and some bird bombs... It seems like the US birds have more acid CRAP than the Australian ones though because I never have any etching problems from them... :)

Anyway - I have used Megs #9 Swirl Remover 2, Sonus SFX2, and then Megs Step 2 to glaze on my new paintwork within the 3 months curing period - they are supposed to all be "paint shop safe". Maybe try some Megs #9 to to remove the mark (I did the whole hood with PC to remove my water marks). Then when you have it out get some glaze (Megs Step 2) on there (as recommended by Accumulator) to provide some protection from further bird bombings during the curing stage.

I reccommend a claymagic, mothers or meguiars claybar kit,and lightly claying the spot with lots of lubricant, that removed bird etchings on my mom's flawless paint :woot:

P.S: Good luck, and keep a bottle of qd & a mf in the car ;) wipe it off as soon as possible next time :lol
