Bird Bomb

I went out to my car yesterday and noticed there was a bird bomb the size of my fist on my bonnet. So I washed and dried the car but there was still a haze mark. I got out the scratch X and after 3 applications I managed to remove the marks.

I waxed the area after using the scratch X but is there anything else I need to do to protect the area from further damage or will it be ok with the blitz wax?

I'm now away on birdwatch with a pellet gun!!!

Thank's,

Ryan

If you washed the spot thoroughly and even followed up with polishing and waxing it, it should be fine. As far as protection goes, maybe only a synthetic sealant might protect better (depending on bomb composition). The absolutely best thing to do is to keep an "emergency kit" in your car and remove it ASAP.

are there McDonalds, Jack in the box, Carls Jr, Taco Bells in Scottland ? So. Cal ocean chickens are the worst ! They feed entirley (it seems) on fast food ! You know how Americans are overweight, and theres a crisis with children being overweight, you should see our birds !

And why am I replying to ths thread ?

sssheeeesh...I dont know why i even thought about it....

Cotton towel, MF towel, fav QD, window cleaner....Maybe a lil wax ?, or even polish......:bounce

I haven't tried Poorboys Bird Sh#t remover but I use their Spray and Wash on the bird bombs and it works very well. I usually spray it on and let it sit for a few seconds while I wipe a panel or a window and then the bird present just wipes right off. I have EX on top....maybe that makes the bird stuff easier to wipe?

I'm still using Autoglym - mainly as its easy to get hold of nowadays - Halfords etc. I keep a bottle of their Fast Glass in the car for this sort of thing (seagull strike this morning on the motorway - right in the middle of the bonnet). Works well but it will remove wax, so you may need something to top up afterwards

Surely either of you in the UK can get a hold of some detailing spray from Meguiar's or some other company? This is good for wiping up bird bombs because it lubricates the surface as you wipe it off and won't strip wax. I find it really odd that Autoglym doesn't make one.

Actually I have some Meguiars on order. Autoglym is popular as you can buy it off the shelf - otherwise its mainly Turtle wax or the shops own brands in the UK.

Autoglym do make one (Show Shine if memory serves) but its an aerosol (so I've never tried it - too pricey I reckon for day to day use). The problem with Autoglym is that they don't do wax - they have a polymer solution, so for them wax removal is not an issue. And since I don't have any wax on there at the moment, its not an issue (but it will be soon :p )
