Biggest job ever...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
Eleven and a half hours. Three detailers, 2 generators, 3 rotary, 3 PC's and a half ton of spent rags, MF towels, and polishes and waxes !!!

This was some job !!! My company took on (3) 2003 Mack Dump Truck (exterior only) this Sunday.

Some pics...

We were out and out pooped at the end of the day. Up and down 3 ladders with extention cords and equipment !!!

Here are a few pics...

THat is awesome!! The trucks look great!!

Where did you find three qualified detailers who could use the rotary? I can only think of about 4 in the entire state of TN. :)

Did you take the rest of the week off? :drunk

Dean, forgot to ask what the process was. I am guessing since you were in the sun it was something along the lines of SSR2, EX. Perhaps a bit more involved depending upon the condition and the amount you were being paid.

Man that is a lot of paint!!

Bah... those aren't big. I've got ya beat.

amcsm

:D Just kidding. That is actually a really huge job. I'm impressed that your company took the job. What do you bill out for trucks like those?

Wow :bigups

That is a tremendous job! They look stunning though.

I can't imagine how much product you used...Especially tire dressing :)

Is that 11.5 total for three people or 11.5 x 3 people=a total 34.5 hours?

Just wondering because if you did all three trucks (3 trucks divided by 11.5 hours=3.83 hours each), with a combined total of 11.5 hours with three people that is awesome!!!

Anyway looks like you did a great job and I hope you get the repeated business! :)

Great job Dean ... that is a lot of work.
Years ago I used to paint and stripe semis (without the dump) and after buffing them out I was wiped out for a couple days.

Those are some beautiful dumps... I hope you gave them some care and feeding instructions for the detail job. A lot of times the soap a truck washer is so strong it will remove all of the wax on the first wash. Then guess who gets the blame? You might want to call them and let them know to use minimal soap on them. Everyone will be a lot happier.

killer job dean. how much did you charge ? i met a guy who owns a trucking co and im wanting to bring up doing some detailing but i dont know what to charge

Some days I wish I had a truck that big. It can be humiliating to be in a low sedan in Atlanta which must be the SUV capital of the world.

EBPcivic...

My brother and brother-in-law were both schooled in rotary use by yours truely over the last 2 years. My brother's first car he buffed was his mother-in-laws black Grand Marquis. Teach them on flat black and everything else will be a breeze.

EBPcivic and GSRstilez

Products used on the paint was Megs # 82 and # 83, EX and Nattys. I went after the chrome and aluminum with a metal polish called Kondrite and Mother. I went through 2 cans of Mothers and a large can of the other polish. We chewed up about 4 edge pads and 2 wool pads that were tossed, and about 30 towels (both cotton and MF) that were unsalvagible.

As far as dressing, we did not dress the tires , fender wells, or exposed hoses because they were not cleaned properly. I was not permitted to wash on this private property, and the wash job that was performed prior to my arrival was less than adequate. We did the best with what we could do, and I went through 2 claymagic blue bars.

bigron62 : Check your PM for my pricing, but if you are also interested in a estimate I would estimate charging between $500-700 dollars per dump to be adequate enough to cover expenses and to put a couple of $$$ in your own pocket.

Scooter: I have a feeling that these trucks will not be washed regularly which is why the full detail treatment.

Thanks for the compliments !!!
