BFWD vs. MPL

Has anyone compared these two? I searched and found a few threads with so-so comparisons.

I have used both brands and I know I can't go wrong with either of these two. My question is not the durability as I am sure its there with both and plus I wax or seal my cars before protection runs out anyway.

How do they compare as far as slickness and does one or the other keep the vehicle cleaner longer?

i dont know about mpl but i have used the bfwd and its very slick but to me the durability was not there it would last a month then almost fully fade.

i do wash my cars about twice a week so say by about 8 washes it was done for me.

I've used both on my IS350 and I honestly can't tell any difference between the two as far as how they look or whether one kept the car cleaner or not. Initial slickness is great with both of them and they both still beaded water after multiple washes. I did find BFWD to be ever-so-slightly easier to apply and remove and I think BFWD smells better too, but other than that, I think it's a wash between the two.

Since you have both of them already, you should just try them both out on your car and see which one you like better. My guess is you'll like both.:)

I don't have both. I have used both Menzerna and Blackfire products before.

I am looking to pick up a new sealant though.

I faced the same decision and decided to go with BFWD. BFWD was my choice since it has been around for a bit longer. I have no doubt that Power Lock will prove to be a great sealant given that Menzerna makes top notch products. Since Power Lock is new, lots of vendors have special pricing which makes it cheaper than BFWD.

In that case, I suggest you go with the one you can get for cheaper. IMO, they are both so similar that I doubt you could tell the difference once it's applied. I know PML is newer, but I had it on my car for a month before reapplying and it was still slick and beading strongly before reapplication.

I have BFWD, I love the slickness, the easy on - easy off, lasts 3-4 months for me. That said, I wish it didn't separate so much that you have to shake it like 1-2 minutes to get it nice, and forget about washing it out of the applicator (probably a good thing) so - is Menzerna like that too?

Haven't noticed the seperation bit, but PowerLock is definitely hard to get out of the applicator.

I own both, but I have yet to try my MPL out. I have talked to a lot of friends that have mentioned the same thing you guys noticed ... you can't barely tell the difference between both sealants.

I think it's too early to tell which one is more durable, but I think it should be about the same.

I'm going out on a limb here and say they are the same product, with MINOR changes. I am using BF more and more due to ease. I have one applicator that I use and then baggy it for the next time.

Cheers

I concur! :)

I love the new MPL, but I still believe BFW is the best looking sealant.

love could mean a lot of things :). I'm getting mixed reviews from everybody too. I'm looking to replace Jet Seal 109, it's streaking on me (probably because I'm using too much).

In terms of durability... which one is better?

MPL comes off very easy. I still do not know how long it does last, but I have a gut feeling it should be a great performer. Time will tell.

I am about a month in with a coat of MPL on my 07 Yukon. It is raining right now and I just looked out and the beads are tight and rolling off the hood. One problem I have been having with the MPL is the fact it is so slick my fingers slip off the edge of the door if I grab it to open or close the door even after a full month.

ughhh... I'm about to ditch my jet seal that i just bought last month. Really debating whether MPL or BFWD. I don't really care which one, just want ease of use, no streaking, and durability. The price of each one is about the same anyways.

If I were in your position, I'd just get MPL just because it's being discounted by everybody right now. If you don't like it (very doubtful. I think it's awesome), at least you didn't pay full price. Durability is still unproven though, so if that is really important to you, get BFWD, which has a proven track record on durability. In the end, I think you'll be very happy with either one. I know I am.;)

I honestly think the differences between the two are so minor it really isn't going to matter which one you go with. I favor the BFWD over the MPL simply because of the smell. I have both.. I use both.. They look and act exactly the same to me.. But one just smells better than the other. If you're really up in the air just grab which ever one is cheaper. You won't be disappointed with either one IMO.

Seeing that CMA has been formulating sealants ALOT longer than Menzerna USA, I'd have to put my bet on BFWD. Plus, it's PolyCharged!
