BFWD should I stop at 2 coats?

Alright I just did a full paint correction I already put 2 coats of bfwd on should I put 3? Will 2 coats last six months?



And what are the benifits of putting on 3 vs 1. I was told it doesn't give layers it just makes sure everythings covered?



So do you think 2 is enough?



I put it on with my Flex 3401 on speed 3.

You could go with 2 coats up front and refresh it with another after the 1st wash.

Remember that you need to wait 24 hours between coats for the sealant to cure

One was enough if complete coverage. Durability is more dependent on surface prep than product by itself. If everything is up to snuff and the car is properly cleaned, 6 months is doable. If worried, use spray wax once in a while after wash, but might prevent another BFWD coat depending on type of spray used.

Personally I think paint can only hold so much wax or selent. I use to layer like crazy. 2 coats is plenty. 2 thin coats.

I go with one coat, but apply more often (like every 6-8 weeks) since it's so easy to use.

IME it depends on the product, Mr. Pro Detailer, it depends on the product :boink: :chuckle:



But yeah...most of the time stuff does *NOT* layer the way people expect it to, at least not without extraordinary measures like spit-shining. The exceptions are pretty rare and are generally sealants as opposed to waxes.

fwiw, I use 2 coats of BFWD and it last 6 months for me on vehicles left outside and used as DDs here over the past winter in the Northeast.



I use their spray detailer after the occasional wash to help keep the protection up.

2 coats of most sealants should be just fine. Plus they tend to be easy enough to apply and remove you might as well freshen the protection up every 3 months or so.

If you want to put on more coats, try 2 coats of their Midnight Sun wax, let each bond 8 hours, then put another BFWD on top to seal in the wax. I know a guy who uses that formula for his high end cars he competes in shows with. Says the look is unmatched. Sounds like a hassle but if you want to put more coats on might be worth trying.
