BF Poly Sealant vs XMT 360 Spray Wax

Though different products, I compared BF Poly Sealant to Pinnacle XMT 360 Spray wax. Because the XMT is a wax, it's going to be more durable, but Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray can be seen as having an advantage because it can be used to remove light dust, dirt and fingerprints. XMT 360 Spray Wax is designed to be applied to surfaces that are squeaky clean. For me this is not an issue because I always Waterless Wash my vehicle before applying any of these "topping" products - but YMMV.

XMT 360 Spray Wax is by far my favorite spray wax that I've found thus far. However for the money, I would recommend Meg Ultimate Spray Wax as it's almost as good as the XMT at half the price. FWIW, I've tried the Optimum Spray Wax which I liked but thought it a bit overpriced for my type of usage, which is to "freshen up" the paint between BF Crystal Sealant applications. I also apply spray wax regularly to the lower rocker panels and the nose, to make bug & dirt removal that much easier.

In terms of looks, both products produce similar gloss but it's always difficult to tell on white paint. Notice the close-up photos of the front hood/quarter panel of each product. From the photos I cannot see a discernable difference between the products. In terms of "feel", the XMT leaves a much slicker surface which I prefer. Ease of use, both products couldn't be easier and you'll use less of the BF then the XMT because it's very concentrated. Not certain which product would cost less once you figure in the amount of product you actually use, but I'm going to guess that the cost would be roughly the same. Let me conclude by saying now that I've tried the BFPS, I probably won't order it again unless it was on BOGO or some special blowout pricing. On the other hand, I would definitely re-order the XMT 360 Spray Wax.

good review. so it sounds like your main base coat on the car is bfcs and you are layering spray wax over that in between bfcs recoats ? i do love the look of wax over bfwd and often try different wax over coats too. if you get a chance, do try bfms spray wax, i think you'll be impressed with it also and it'll bond even better to the bfcs base. :)

Thanks for the suggestion steve, I'll put it on my wish list for my next order. Found BF Crystal Seal and think it amazing-especially because of it's ease of application. The other thing for me is that Crystal Seal seems to make white paint really pop, compared to some of the other products I've tried.

I probably use the spray wax every other or every third wash, just to rejuvenate the paint and help with that slick feeling. If I get bug juice on the front or heavy tar that needs to be removed from the rocker panels, then a quick spray to seal it back up. I've also used the Poorboys QD + product which is super as a drying agent and also works well as a straight up detail spray. A little pricey IMO so I'd wait for it to go onto BOGO before pulling the trigger again.

Lots and lots to choose from and not that these aren't all good, but at this point to be honest I'm looking for that EXCEPTIONAL product, like BFCS or Autoglym wheel cleaner. These product to me are in a class by themselves and have no peer.

Nice review, BLACKFIRE Polymer Sealant is a spray polymer that has the same polymer base as the sealant. It should, by a considerable margin, out last XMT. :bigups

Thanks for that clarification Todd - since the BF is a detail spray by nature I really didn't think that was the case. :bow Cause if we're talking wax vs detail spray...most would bet on the wax. Interesting though. Hmm, not going to mention my sources but think I should send them this link. hahaha.

Remember Stuart BF is made from the best stuff on earth:rockon

Todd should call Snapple and by that slogan.....

The old BLACKFIRE spray was a blend of a quick detailer and a spray sealant (Called Deep Gloss Spray). The addition of BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash and Midnight Sun Instant Detailer allowed us to focus Wet Diamond Polymer Spray more as a paint sealant. It can still do some light cleaning, but it is a durable spray sealant.

Also keep in mind that XMT 360, despite being a wax is a very durable spray wax (amongst the most durable I have ever tested). It would be no surprise, given the variables that account for differences: what product it is applied to, what type of paint is it, conditions, and more; that one product could perform better in certain situations. Ultimately there is no wrong answer, both are top shelf products in my opinion, and you cannot go wrong with either ;)

This really changes my thinking on the BF - since it's more sealant then detail spray and last's longer then XMT 360 or similar, I'll use it in that capacity and not as a detail spray. Todd was correct in stating that a little goes a long way when applying the BF, so that makes the price easier to justify. Hmmm, these requires a little more thought and of course, more testing. I have to say it again Mr Helme, :yourrock

I have a bottle of the old BF Deep Gloss Spray and really liked it. I need to get a bottle of the BF Spray Sealant and do a comparison on the improvements.

Have you had the opportunity to try the BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Spray Wax or BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Instant Detailer since you posted this review? If so, what are your thoughts?

I'll tell you two that are too close to call: BF poly spray and Wolfgang Spray Spritz sealant - advantage to WG as it goes BOGO every quarter or so.....

Nice review OP! I agree with you on XMT spray wax. Nice shine and killer slickness, but it is not more economical than OCW. (not counting BOGO).
