BF Microfiber Wash

I picked up a gallon of the Blackfire Microfiber wash and have done three loads.

It does seem to be much cleaner rinsing than Microrestore. You end up using a bit more if you use the product directions so not as cost effective.

As for cleaning ability, it does not appear to be that much better to me yet on grungy spots but I guess that can be compensated by using more soap. I may try a more direct side by side test since cleaning is obviously dependent on the type soil, etc so the jury is still out for me.

It also does leave the towels feeling nice with two rinses and not using vinegar so it has several pluses over Microrestore. Since a gallon will last a long time, the cost really is not that much of an issue.

Given I use towels in rotation (lastest cleans ones go on the bottom of the stack = OCD) I will have to use the BF cleaned ones to check actual performance (ability to absorb water).

I had some really grudging spots on one towel, (well a gold rag its used for exhaust cleaning), and I used 2 ounces on a small load and it took it right out.
I had to run them through the wash twice to get the soap out though.

I haven't had any issue with the towels absorbing water either.

Thanks for adding your experiences to the mix. One factor that is not discussed but that can make a big difference is your washer. They aren't all created equal and they don't all do their cycles the same way. Also a frontload HE washer is a very different animal from a top load. Differences in washers might explain the different results as well.

I know when we got our HE washer, everything seemed to get cleaner, but the cycles are also much longer, the spins are much faster (much closer to dry when done) and you have to use different detergents that are intended for HE washers (I think the main difference is low foaming, but maybe they have stronger cleaners too).

I'll probably try the BF MF cleaner one of these days.

I have an older He front loader washer. The most recent load was small (couple mf mitts and maybe 8 towels plus a grungy applicator).

At this point, I am just trying to determine the amount of cleaner to use. Even with Microestore, I have pre-soaked and run a load twice.

I posted a review on BlackFire's Microfiber Wash a couple of months ago and came to the same conclusion!! :bigups

  1. Quality Product
  2. Reasonably Priced
  3. And it WORKS!

I would be interested in how this works on older towels with stains? The towels that I see in this review are newer and freshly used. The challenge I see consistently cleaning so you can stay on top of the integrity of the material.

Once a old towel does in the dryer the stain is set.

I have tried it on some old ones and it didnt take the stains out.

Yep, I think for all intents and purposes you can consider those stains as black dye. There's no remaining dirt, just the color. The same stain on a shirt (or something without nap) would also leave the black color but there's no dirt or gritty stuff remaining to scratch paint, and the color is set in so it won't transfer. It might get incrementally lighter with successive washings, same as most dyes.

I've tried to intentionally dye small colored marks on my MF towels along the edges so I can keep certain towels for specific uses (I have lots of same color MF towels). For example a red marked towel is for quick detailer final wipe and the green mark is for wax wiping. I used fabric markers which are supposed to be permanent, but they do fade with washing.

i just did a wash with MF towels that were YEARS old and never washed (they were "discovered" in a long forgotten drawer). Ran them through BFMW and they came out like new, minus the set-in stain but I don't expect anything to get that out, ever.
