is there anything i can do to my black car between washes to get light dust off? most say dont qd black!...do you remove dust if so how?..or do i just drive dusty till i wash it? black is a ******

also which is the least dust atracting sealant?

depends on how dusty....if it's dust from sittin in a garage....you can use a duster.......but if it's worse than that.....I would go ahead and wash it.......if you have to have it clean.....you don't want to ruin all your work......

my car lives in the garage, its just light dust...but i'm scared to even touch it till i wash it, i've read that most cant qd without marring black...so i dont even bother...but i just got some CBT`S and there really soft!

i had the cali duster for my red one...it would get dirty fast and leave behind wax marks....so this is ruled out

maybe you should take a chance then and just dust off one panel....then look at it under a bunch of different lighting situations..like we do down south "we goin swirrel huntin":-)..that should help ya decide.....

I don't Qd when dusty, but I will use poorboys spray and wipe if there is light to moderate dust. If it has rained or been more than two days, I wash.

My car is the color you see in the avatar, but I also have a very dark green accord(might as well be black). I use S&W on both without marring.

QDing dust off my black trucks and bikes simply doesn't work. I frequently QD after I wash them. I've been "in black" since '77.

Tom

CD's are waxy but if you manage to get some of the wax out it's not bad. My black car gets dusted everyday then I wipe off the wax residue with a detailer. The older and dirtier a CD, the better it performs I believe.

I feel your pain man. I really hate the rear bumper on my black GT, it serves as a little ledge for dust to settle and the exhaust further kicks up dust which settles on the bumper.

The best thing I have found so far is to stop by the coin op midweek, use the low pressure spot free rinse and take it up to 85 mph for a few miles to blow off the water :D

it's only like $1, and mabey 20 min total time. Easiest way I have found so far.

i tried that i end up with waterspots...i'm sure you found out how much water it holds when drying:D

I have two black cars now (BMW 745Li and Benz E55) and I use Poorboys Spray and Wipe to clean off any dust and light rain spots that might have collected on the paint. I usually go easy with my first wipe and never apply any pressure. If the dirt isn't coming off with the first swipe, I usually don't go any further and do a wet wash.

If you're ever in doubt, go for the wet wash. Better safe than sorry. :)

I've got a black car, and I'm fine with qd'ing. I think it depends on the qd, though (and amount of dust/dirt). I've tried some, and it's almost like the qd intensifies the micro-marring. I find the ones with some wax tend to do a better job of not leaving marks. Of course, this is if you don't want to use S&W or QEW. Both of these would be safer bets, I believe.

I have a black car, and also use poorboys spray and wipe (S&W) when the car is just a little dusty. it has not left any marring.

I have a black B5.5 and resided to the fact that the CD is out altogether and QD is only good if used right after a wash. Any dust at all and I use either and I am back polishing.

CD works great, and if you follow the instructions that came with it....you would see that it needs to be left on newspaper overnight when new so that the excess comes off...instead of streaking the car. I missed that the first time and got streaks.

I have used these for years, and they do a great job. I keep a dirty one for taking the brake dust off the Viper's wheels after driving.

If the car is used infrequently, I would recommend an indoor car cover. Both my restored Plymouth and Viper are covered and kept inside. Keeps the car clean, and for the long haul...also shades the car from UV.

Finally, as far as sealants go...anything with silicones will attract dust and dirt. And...most glazes, waxes, etc, contain silicones. Zaino does not. I used Zaino on all my car with excellent results.
