better results ~ swirl removal

So as some of you guys know I have been having a hard time to minimize all these swirls. Poorboy's SSR2.5 and SSR1 did not work quite as well. I have recently found a method and a product that improves removing/minimizing swirl...



Here is what I did:



- Poorboy's SSR2.5 on a light cutting pad

- Poorboy's SSR1 on a light cutting pad

- Poorboy's SSR1 on a finishing pad

- System One Professional Formula polish on a finishing foam pad



This is the result:

This picture shows there still is room for improvement, I don't know of a way to perfect the paint and I'm trying to stay away from wetsanding as best as I can...

Try finishing down the polishing with a PC.



I gotta ask, what is up with the Ninja mask? You hiding from the government or something?
 
nah, don't have a PC no more...



Ninja mask? LOL, it's so hot outside that I gotta do that to cover up some more and help myself cool down a little bit... :2thumbs:

Since the worst of the remaining marring looks (at least to me) like sorta-long, random scratches, I think you just need to do more correction. Either more passes with what you'er using or more aggressive pads/products.



I haven't used the SSR line, so I don't know what you should expect from it. But I bet that a few passes with something like H-T EC (or, I hear, the Presta) on an orange pad would help a *lot*. It would leave more micromarring/etc. that you'd have to take out with your current stuff, but it'd get rid of the stuff you can see in that last pic.
 
For pc, I would suggest the Presta Ultra cutting creme light. A yellow LC pad is what I would use. Most colors there will be no micromarring at all. If any at all just use a white LC pad and follow up with the same polish or even a finer polish.



Cuts better than OC and finishes better than OP in one step!

I sure do hear a lot of good stuff about the Presta!
 
It's great stuff and I have been using it for over 10 years. I have tried so many other compounds and I always keep on coming back to Presta! If I could have shown some before and after pictures of some jobs I had done years ago, most would be blown away.



I know my technique and skill are more important and higher than a product, but Presta has made it easy on me with perfect 10 results. I could have not gotten any better results other than Presta. I always have complete stock. Most Body shop supply stores carry it.
 
rydawg, specifically which products in the Presta line would you recommend for correcting and perfecting paint? and by correcting/perfecting, I mean, to have the most swirl removed?

I use the ultra cutting creme light first

I use the swirl remover last or any other fine finish polish on a foam polish/finish pad. FPII would also be a good finish polish also.
 
sweet, I had a local detailing supplies order me an Ultra Cutting Creme Light this morning, hopefully will have time to try it to day when I get it this afternoon...
