better glass cleaning method?

I was thinking the other day... is there a way to improve on my glass cleaning method.. there must be... i always spray my 20/20 directly on the glass but that causes overspray to mist onto my paint and surrounding areas everytime.. does anyone else have this problem? would it be just as effective (and neater) to apply the glass cleaner onto the towel and then wipe off??

thats how I do mine. spray on towels and then wipe off. it works still the same.

Has anyone else noticed how effective the tiny microfiber cloth for cleaning EYEGLASSES are? At least mine is - no lint and removes streaks/film/smudges/dust without scratching the coating. Doesn't require adding cleaning solution either. Just wish I can find it in a much larger size so I can also use it for the car.

Do you have a link to what type of eyglass cloth you have?

As mentioned, the zero nap glass MF's in parts stores are very good, and would be like the "silk" eyeglass cloths. If you have the 3M eyeglass cloth, that would be similar to many low nap general purpose mf's found at various places. If you have the type that are almost like strong paper towels, the Nano Wipers would be similar to that.

Hope this helps.

Any suggestions on cleaning glass (especially windshields) in the sun when shade/cover isn't available? I can't get streak-free windows in the sun to save my life!

It is hard to clean hot glass. Try covering with something -obvious.

I have had results with this method. I use a rayon or other cheap absorbent cloth, Dollar store. Wet it with water, wring it out but leave it almost wet. Work fast -wipe dry, do in sections. In colder weather, totally wring out the cloth.

The eyeglass cloth I use came with the eyeglasses so thanks for helping me figure out what to look for. They are closest to this:

Sabco

Found it when I came across an old thread when Ranney was looking for a new glass towel (see the post by Alfisti):

It's too bad he only went with the ww glass towel.

If you have any brand recommendations, I'd appreciate it. I tried a microtex suede-like one for windows and edgeless polishing mf's. IMO they are not as good as my eyeglass cloth for cleaning (for drying, ww's work well) unless I use a glass cleaner like Stoner's IG (mine removes smudges/haze/dust without additional product).

The ones I like are (OTC) the "flat" 2 pack glass towels at parts stores and 'Marts. Usual companies are either Viking or Zwipes. Online, either WW MF's or Poorboys Velvet Smooth MF. I actually use the PB cloth for my glasses when I clean them at home.

I'm fairly picky about glass and found that nothing beats Invisible Glass with the Pak Shak GLASS MFs. Even in direct sunlight. No streaks! I generally spray directly on the glass, interior and exterior.

I'll put them on my shopping list, thanks!

My excel polishing cloths & waffle weaves work fine with stoner's invisible glass. I was only hoping to find something to use that doesn't smudge/streak even WITHOUT any product, like my lens wipes do, especially for the inside glass.
