best wheel cleaner you have used

I really like Sonax FE, although Autoglym CWC, P21S Gel, and Meguiar's Wheel Brightener all have a place in my aresonal.

As a "not wheel cleaner" Optimum Power Clean is pretty good as well.

I just used CarPro's Iron X Paste on really stubborn, late 1990's BMW M3 wheels that had serious amounts of baked on brake dust... That stuff is ROCKSTAR good.

I've had good luck with AG CWC paired with Iron-X. But once the wheels have been properly cleaned and protected I can use regular car soap and save money.

I currently use Muc-Off Wheel Cleaner on most wheels, and then Sonax or Iron X on really bad wheels. I would get rid of Soanx if I could get AG CWC easily since it's awesome.

As for Brown Royal, I can't figure out why people like it. I could get better results with just soap and water(which is what I use on well maintained wheels). I really can't understand the hype on this product. It's junk IMO.

How long did you let the Iron X sit? I tried some on some newer BMW wheels, and it didn't work all that great, but I only let it sit for about 5 minutes.

I would say about 5 minutes, I used a older, soft tooth brush to agitate the solution and it worked amazingly well.

I'll give the brush a try. I used an old wash mitt and it didn't do much. I was a little disappointed and rushed for time so I didn't play around with any other tools. thanks!

Spray & rinse is the one poorboys product that doesnt work as advertised. Ive tried it several different times, with poor results each time.

I use Wesleys tire and wheel cleaner available at Wal Mart. Spary on wet tire and rim, agitate, rinse works great on all tires and rims with no issues. This is inexpensive and works great IMO

sorry for the not specific question.im talking about on abused nasty wheels where soap and water doesnt work. i think i may give megs wheel brightener a try

Abused wheels nothing I have used will beat malco brake off. Designed for German wheels, if you allow it to work as instructed, baked on dust come off in sheets with no agitation. Will not damage wheels or brake parts. Google it and you will be amazed. Only for the bad ones, not routine use.

Autoglym non acid wheel cleaner - haven't found anything close and leaves the wheels with a shinny glow. $40/gallon delivered.

On my daily driver I use Sonus Rim Bright on polished aluminum wheels with good results. But I don't let them get too crud'ed up before I clean them.

i bought Malco Brake Off a year ago and it is a winner. like the results of megs wheel brightener but it is so caustic i went with malco. just ordered a new gallon yesterday. finished a 17 year old lincoln daily driver ungaraged with "turbine vanes" wheels that were horrible. now just perfect. i use it confidently without the fear of stains, drips i had when using wheel brightener. Autoglym acid free does a great job on 90 percent of my daily driver cars i get. got a half gallon of sonax left and just never use it anymore. i live in the foothill of oregon with logging trucks everywhere. got a friend to spread the word that i can do their wheels this spring. could be a killing for little ole me. even ax men have needs.

For really dirty wheels I use Poorboy's Spray and Rinse. It is awesome

Amazing Roll off is great for tires, wheel wells and the wheels too.

PS21 is really good and recently I tried and like the SONAX product. I will buying SONAX again.
