Best "Wet Look" Glaze?

In most cases you wouldn't put a glaze on top of a sealant. One instance where you would, is if you were entering your ride in a show, and want it to look dripping wet. A glaze uses oils and fillers to give you a swirl free wet looking finish. Other then using it for a car show, I'm not sure why you would use it over a sealant, since it will wash off the first time it rains.

That is exactly the information I was looking for!

Two words: OILS & FILLERS. That's all I needed to know!;)

In the Northeast with my black vehicles I need the durability of sealent, so I need to find a Glaze that will allow a sealent to bond to it.

Red Moose Glaze requires a wax over it, but the Vanilla Moose glaze can have a sealent over it. Wonder if it performs as good as the Red Glaze?

Got the word back from Omega Glaze and you cannot use a polymer sealent over it, they suggest wax.

When I detail my vehicles I want them to look much better than other cars on the road, that is why I feel it necessary to use a glaze to give the paint that super deep, wet look, that cannot be ignored.

Although I suppose if you have a $10K+ custom paint job it is not neccessary.

That $30K paint job Bill posted was off the hook.... :w00t:

I try alot of them in the past and if one is looking to do some type of cover-up or for show then alot of the glazes will work for one. I just don't use them anymore because I want a perfect finish on the paint surface, before the LSP. Just be careful on some glazes because they do wash off very easy if one don't let it cure and the LSP you put on will come off too and your back to square one.

Hi,

I am looking for the best wet look glaze that will add depth to darker colored paints.

I like to use sealents and know that sealents won't stick to a lot of glazes, I am currently using Danase Wet Glaze and am satisfied with the results but I want more...

I've tried the Menzerna glaze and had application problems and streaking. Looking to try One Grand Omega Polish but am not sure you can use a polymer sealent over it.

Thanks for sharing any opinions and experiences :D

You need to realize that you are pretty limited to what you can use since you want to use a sealant on top. Most of the "true" glazes will cause bonding issues with the sealant. I would recommend Danase Wet Glaze since it works with sealants, but you have already tried that.

Whatever you try, I will be interested in hearing your results compared to DWG.

I like Red Moose Glaze, and EZ Creme Glaze.

I have not tried the BF glaze but Dave(street dreams) has some on order and will give me the 411, that being said I was "questioned" by some latetly for using EZ Creme Acrylic(CG) which I have used for years without one issue at all..........period. The rumour was that is why my finish always looked good in the pics on write ups(because anyone who knows me knows this I cannot operate photoshop..... not today not tomorrow etc.... because BFWD will not bond over EZ CREME well I must not have got the memo as it workes like a charm first time everytime, I believe Danase is a similar product but I am not an authority on this particular issue and if something nets great results then why try an re-invent the wheel?.

Lately I have been utilizing 87MC(menzerna) more and more for super refinement of the finish before a glaze, and some finishes I have forgone the glaze step(ceramiclear) and other hard ceramic based paints, but early model 996 Porsches need the glaze imho.

Dave and I have talked about this that the intermediate polishing steps can be finished down longer creating a better foundation for the the fine polishing steps to follow, and with rotary correction this is key so no residual holograms pop up and ruin the day.

Prima Amigo and Driven to Perfection Marine Sealant glaze are the best I've ever tried
Amigo doesnt have any silicone or wax, no dust and you can put sealants over it.
The Driven is a glaze and a super strong sealant.

Apply these by DA or RO and you'll see instant changes in colour shade, depth, clarity and wetness and it wont ever fade away

Blackfire GEP and Menz 87MF (the wet black jelly like stuff), not FP II which is grey, are another combo I use 50/50 or 65/35
