Best way to use Poorboys?

I'm pretty novice to serious detailing. I have a black '94 Toyota 4-Runner that I want to use to get familiar with my new PC 7424 before I unleash it on my '04 M3. I ordered the following products, and was wondering if anyone can shed some insight on which technique I should use.

SSR1- quart

SSR2.5 - quart

Natty's Paste Wax - 8oz

EX-P - 16oz

Quantity: EX Sealant - 16oz

Bird Sh#t Remover - 8oz

Poorboy's Wheel Sealant - 8oz Jar

Super Slick and Suds Car Wash - quart

Microfiber Starter Kit - a $50 value

Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba - 16oz

Will washing with the wash soap be sufficient before strarting to polish, etc? Thanks

Oh yeah, I got the SSR 2.5 for my brothers car which has some seriously bad paint. He will be my second test mule. :nervous2:

The PBs stuff is pretty easy to use. The directions are on the back of each products. You will find yourself using the SSR 2.5 alot and the SSR 1... never. I would clay before I polished if I were you. This will remove any hard contaminants that could potentially lodge in the pad and scratch the entire surface of your car. Besides, clay produces a very slick finish that we all love here at Autopia.

So true JJ. I wish I had just ordered two things of 2.5 and passed on the SSR 1. 2.5 is strong enough to remove swirls, yet gentle enough to go straight to LSP after using it. I love that stuff.

CantDrv55 - Only thing I don't see on your list that I recommend in between washing and polishing is clay bar. You can pick one up at just about any auto parts store. Just keep in mind that as with any big project it's all about the prep work. Wash, clay, then begin the polishing process. After you are satisfied with the polish job you have done then move on to the wax/sealant phase. Good luck!

You didn't mention what kind of condition the 4-Runner paint is in, but you will probably want to clay after washing and before starting to polish. You don't mention that you bought any Poorboy's clay; you may be able to find some Meguiar's, Clay Magic, or Mother's clay locally. Here's some info on claying: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-clay.html .

You have some redundancy in your Poorboy's products in that you have multiple sealants and polishes; the path you take will depend on the condition of the finish, and some will say, the color.

BTW, the Poorboy's MF's are some of the best, and fairly priced, that's a nice kit. I don't particularly like the smooth towels, but the others are underrated, IMO.

I got some extra stuff because I plan to do a few other cars of different color and finish condition later. The stuff is priced pretty easy on the wallet so if I get a bottle I don't really need I will be ok. Figured I may as well save a little on shipping and get a lot. After the 4-runner I plan to do my brothers black WS6 which is in slightly better shape than the 4-Runner. I have a few other cars to martyr...err practice on before I do my baby.

The 4-Runner paint is in ok shape, but full of scratches and swirls. I know I can't get a lot of the scratches out, but I want to make the most of the paint that is still there. It was driven up North all its life, and spent the entire time outside. I took 2 pics of the hood, it's overcast and drizzling some today so they aren't that great and do not really show the condition.
