Best way to surface prep for Zaino?

Guys, I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

I've been zainoing since my car was new, and it is now almost a year old. I just bought all the PC goodies I need and am ready for a major detail weekend. I'm wondering, after my car's been polished, what do you Zaino heads suggest for prepping my surface? Do I really need anything, or should I just go right to Z2 w/ZFX?

I know many use P21S paint cleanser before waxing, but I assume P21S isn't appropriate to use with zaino because of the oils it contains.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Just go ahead and polish with whatever, then dawn wash to clean away all the oils and such left by the polishes. I have used 3M SMR, followed with Meguiar's #7 with amazing results. Just don't forget to dawn wash before you start Zainoing again... or else it won't bond to your paint. :p

Now is a perfect time to clay the car. After 1 year, it will definitely need a good thorough claying. Also, if you have any significant swirling, take care of that with a good swirl remover before you begin the Zaino process. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend the clay then just Zaino away!

oh yes, I was definitely planning on that first.

I was planning on using Griot's paint prep to remove my many zaino layers, then Dawn washing, then claying, then washing again or at least rinsing to make sure paint is perfectly clean, then Polishing with Griot's #2 followed by Griot's #3.

(I tried just #3 a couple of weekends ago on my hood and it didn't quite do the job on the swirls and etched water spots I've got)
