Best way to get rid of mice?

David Fermani- Yeah, I have Chubb. I didn't bother filing a claim on the A8, just paid to have it fixed.

When we were having the house redone (prior to moving in) we had a major raccoon infestation problem in the attic (think "guys in hazmat suits" ) and also some mouse damage to the security system. The adjuster made a big deal out of the diff between mice and racoons and while they were cool with the huge job of sanitizing the attic and replacing all its insulation, I was on my own regarding the mouse-chewed electricals.

Disclaimer- this was over ten years ago (so my memory might be faulty) and I didn't push the whole issue all that hard as I was just happy that the big job was covered.

Mouse update: just relocated number 59!

Oh, and the "predator urine" approach didn't work at my place, neither did those electronic "distress noise generators"; found mouse droppings right *on* the stuff that was supposed to scare 'em away!

Ok, gotcha on the A8. Sometimes just not worth the extra exposure on your insurance record. I tend to reserve making claims for larger losses. As far as the house issue, that's sounds like a nightmare! Unfortunately, I'm not well versed with property insurance. The chewed electrical seems pretty dangerous. Especially in an attic.

David Fermani- Right, I only file claims when it's a genuine "oh [crap]"-level of expense.

With the house, there were significant ramifications from that huge claim, took years for my premiums to come back down.

Yeah, that's what happens when your contractor takes *over two years* to do his thing (can you tell I'm still steamed 12 years later?); we were living in the previous house while the remodel/additions were done and the neighborhood wildlife figured "hey, a nice vacant house just for us!"

Haven't had to do any critter-repairs since I started the live-trapping, last fix was a CCTV cable that got gnawed last year.
