Best way to clean off my battery?

The connections to my battery has all that bluish crap that bleeded out around it, i want to get it off but I don't know the safest and best way to without messing it up.

This might sound wierd but I have cleaned battery terminals by pouring coke (yes.. coca cola) on it. Atleast in my case, it removed all the sludge build up around the battery terminal.

Try it. YMMV.

Hope this helps.

Jay.

Another trick is to disolve baking soda in some water to make a slurry..apply to posts with an old toothbrush..let sit..rinse away.

and yes..Coke does work pretty well..just let it sit a little...and rinse very well.

Use baking soda dissolved in water. Clean the terminals with a toothbrush or something similar. After you have done that, coat the terminals with Vaseline, this will protect the terminals from further corrosion.

Wire Brush and WD-40 will prevent them from corroding again. After the wire brush, you can just vacuum the crap up; don't blow it all over your finish.

~One mans opinion / observation~

Cleaning Battery Terminals:

Spray the battery terminals with a sodium bicarbonate spray; wait for a minute or so and the corrosion will be naturalized.

Use a stiff nylon brush to remove debris

Remove battery cables and retaining strap and soak them in a baking soda solution to clean them (you will need to reprogram the stereo presets once cleaning is completed)

Apply an anti-corrosion sealant on the terminals.

Install a set of the anti-corrosion (coloured red and green) they contain an acid neutralizer that prevents future corrosion on the terminals.

Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

I use the baking soda slurry followed by wire brushing and lubrication with WD40. I never disconnect the battery terminals unless they are loose.

Isn't it funny how we drink the same stuff we clean our battery terminals with, and that same stuff does a real good job at cleaning them? Kinda odd I thought, just figured I'd point that out.
